The "Joker" BTA ... purple/green tip.

see thats another thing, is idk if i should feed it.. the other night it was gaping tis mouth prettty badly, just pouring out this brown stringy goo (im pretty sure its just normal nem poo) but never had seen so much as one time..

so if its mouth is gaping almost all the time when should i feed it like you say?
i was always under the impression to not feed em when stressed.

it also has not split yet... but still definantly shows 2 sets of sihponglyphs and the random tear under its mouth... but has not split yet..

Ahhh... If it's gaping and oozing goo, I would pass on the feedings. It will just decay and cause more problems. Wait until your not seeing any goop/slime/strings coming off before trying some small food items. Start with some finely chopped shrimp/mysis/scallops and go from there will daily feedings.

Once of the BTA's in poor shape I have managed to bring back from the dead weas nearly torn apart and looked like someone had cut then down the side and tore them completely open as if they were in a straight line and not circular. He quickly moved to the top of my nano (my BTA 'proving' grounds) and stayed put until he was healed. That guy took about 4 days to pull himself back into a circle and an additional 2 weeks or so to heal the foot and stomach. Once he was good, he made his way back to the rocky bottom. All I can suggest is watch and wait and pay attention to it's healing. If it looks to be improving w/o any oozing or stringy stuff, your probably safe to feed a very SMALL amount daily. That's my experience and probably should not be considered the norm.

Another thing that has me concerned is if you look at the pictures some of his foot tissue seems to be changine colors around the tip as if its decaying.....or is that just my eyes seeing that? I'm not an anemone expert by any means and my rbta was a lot easier and never did any of this so this kinda stuff is new to me

I don't think you should feed it at this time. Just make sure the water quality is good. Give it sometimes to catch up. It will recover eventually.

The original photo you posted, from the dealer, the nem does not look happy. The tentacles are too few. If it is a smaller nem and still sticky I recommend feeding it. Best of luck.

I bought a purple with green tips BTA from Divers Den recently and it did the same thing yours is doing for a week. It had mesenterial filaments hanging and the whole shebang. Recently it has been inflated most of the day, however, once in a while it will deflate and have a gaping mouth. It's looking better with the flow super low and I think it will pull though. Don't give up!

Enyo i love yours :)

k so after talking to the store owner, he told me to just adjust some flow around, and that i did..

THis is what it looked like in the middle of the night, at about 1-2 a.m. after about 5-6 hours of different flow.

Yea Robbie I think ours are close to the same stage of recovery. That's what mine does with the lights on sometimes and then it inflates at night like yours.

Yours is a little bleached, but not totally so there is hope. You consider running carbon until it recovers? It might alleviate any allelopathy in the tank for the time being.

ran into town really quick, and came home and it had fully detached from the rock... ...and found it landed on the rock right in front of the rock it was on.
and looks like this

just the same scenario.. it was actually looking really really good in the new spot... fully inflated... for the entire day yesturday... for the first time. this morning was hoping it'd still be inflated but it wasnt :(

ima do a small waterchange and see if that helps it

Robbie, what r ur parameter readings?....is this nem in the new tank with the Snowonyx?

moved all my BTA's over to that tank, the chemical warfare between the haddoni and bta's was starting to affect my tank..(atleast i think thats what it was, everything seems to be doing better now that the rbta's are out and its just the haddoni) my RBTA's are doing perfect, and the params on this tank are steady.. i check them once a day
Temp - 78.5-80.
Sg - 1.025
pH - 8.2
DkH - 9
Nitrates/ites - 0
ammonia - 0

i do a water change on this tank almost everyday, or every other day..
the water changes is whats affecting it? ... maybe im doing to many..

Do you test for anything else like alk, magnesium, iodine, etc? I notice my RBTA does much better when the alk and mag are up. My iodine hangs steady at .06 and I've just recently started testing for iron. Mine is currently 0 but it should be between .15 and .25 (supposed to help with coloring). I'm currently working on getting that up.

Looking much better hope it pulls through, gotta say the Joker nem caught my eye lol

haha ya the only way the gf would let me buy is if she could name it.. soooooo .. i said as long as its a good name..and she said "The Joker".. and i was like that tolerable.. haha :P (wanna clarify im not trying to imply i got some rare joker name game high priced anem) .. although i think its less common IMO ...

i hope it really colors up and and has a deep purple like a few people have shown me their's
