The Light has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man you added a clam.

OK lets see that documentation, start taking pics. If the crocea can thrive under those LEDs at that depth I am going to become a believer in the current technology associated with these new lights.

me too

Errr the pump putting electricity through the tank was not a good thing. I need a needle wheel pump for the Coralife 220 BAD!!!! Water changes aren't helping do the trick alone.

Could you just go to one of the FLS and pick up a new one? You could probably send the other one back to the company. If it were me, and I had trouble before with the same model, I would get a different one. I use a turbofloater 1000, that I purchased on ebay for nearly nothing, and I bought the pump for it new. I had it all within 2 days and it has been working for me for 10 months (and that is even with me moding it to fit in my small spaced wet/dry system)
I wish you all the luck, it is very disheartning when things start going wrong. I have several sps in my tank now, but for some reason, one of them decided to bleach out on me, within 2 days it is completely white. I am just dumbfounded.

This is the second one from the company that has electrified the tank. I don't trust the company to send me a third that won't. I went out and got a pump that was "recomened" by the LFS and well it wasn't a needle wheel so it didn't work right. It's going back needless to say.

Solaris,oh boy

Solaris,oh boy

ok my solaris has been up for 3 weeks. YES THEY LOOK GREAT!
They do punch light right to the bottom. I have all soft corals that are looking great. No heat. Very little algae growth. Not sure if thats good or bad but I like it. Have to do glass 1x per week and its not even that bad. So far the ONLY real issues are materials and workmanship.
Today a fan stopped again the wire fell out. To get to the fan I had to take out the lens.
When I took the lens out two screws popped out. The entire array dropped out. The light array is attached to a heat sink which is screwed to the frame. The screws came out. I put it back together but then lights were blinking. I literally smacked the frame and the blinking stopped. I have 3 screws left who knows where they go. I m calling PFO in the morning. These lights were way too expensive to have all this bull crap going wrong. They were a mess when I got them. The lens was all scratched and the end caps with the fans were completely loose and had to be tightened. PFO already replaced the first one much to their credit but now lets see what they tell me. Will they send me a third? I'm very worried. It's a shame because I love these lights. I'll keep you posted.

I had the first one of the first 48" off the line supposedly and it's not been a single problem. The Light has worked wonderfully.

PHEW!

PHEW!

Thats great news. Like I said I love the light it's nice to know it's working. The blinking stopped. The light seems to be ok today. If yours is working great I'll sit tight. PFO has stood behind it so far.

How is your livestock doing? Do you have clams and/or acro's? I want to know if I should spend the cash, will they thrive?

Why is everyone so against LED's for reef? I'm too new to answer that question. My tank looks great!

well, I have MH lighting and my clam is doing great, but one of my acro's bleached out completely within 2 days. I think is may be a hit and miss thing.

Well I recently had a pump electrocute my tank so to give an answer to how things are doing is hard. A nearly bullet proof leather and a pocliopora have suffered but my Crocea Clam appears to be fine. As well my mini anemones appear to be fine too. Zoas are 50/50. When I get my skimmer working again (have a smaller though rated for the tank one running) I'll have a better idea. Gotta get my hands on a needle wheel pump (what ever size and brand I need to get) for my coralife 220 and NOT a coralife pump.

We are not against LEDs really just against the promise of the holy grail of lighting for a low low price of X thousand dollars. We have all heard the same claims made for VHO, PC, T5 before. I believe on a shallow tank this system would work fine for SPS and clams. However on deeper tanks, I just don't think the technology is quite there yet from what I have seen and read. As I have said before within a few years LEDs just might be giving most lighting solutions a serious run for there money. Good luck with whichever lights you may use or choose to, but if it's your first time out with SPS and clams you have far more to worry about than experimental lighting, you will find there are other things that will need to be invested in to have that TOM look so save you dollars where you can unless you just don't care.

Well the ones I added after the tank getting electrocuted are doing okay but has only been 5 days so far.
