John, absolutely stuffing shots! I love the clarion pair you have, especially cool to see the color differences between male and female.

Hey copps, can you give some idea about how much pellet they consumed(i know you must feed plenty of other foods, but i want to know about pellet) monthly....

Thanks guys!

Hey Yuri, I need to get updated photos of that... but for now you could check out the photos and description of that system here...

Clarions are subtropical... and I've been running this fish only subtropical now for a while... in the summer it peaks to 74 -75, and in the winter down to the high sixties. In all honesty if my large sps reef didn't have 2000 watts of light over it I'd chill that down much more too... but my electric bill is already up there and while advances have been made in lighting and pumps in terms of efficiency... all chillers are still energy hogs! :)

oh! tell me about your feeding regime......do you use any vitamin/fatty acid additive ...?:o

Nothing too special... other than religious twice a day feedings of a very varied diet of frozen foods... I have a large dedicated freezer that is larger than my families just for the fish! :) No additional additives or vitamins needed...

Hey John thanks for posting an update, because of you, others just like me are changing up there tanks and producing angelfish pairs. My first was a Flame Angel pair that I created, that are now spawning. My next was suppose to be matching up my large blueface, but with that on hold I was fortunate to get what I think is a female Regal Angel to go with my male.

Just realized I linked the wrong photo above, and am unable to edit... for this caption...

"The female pestering the male... there is quite a bit of interaction between them..."

This was the photo...

I had and have had so many inspirations through the years and growing up as a child... and am happy to give back where I can and inspire others. With respect to so many things in this hobby, including mixing angels, I can say to all use Mother Nature as your guide and model... not some book published 20 years ago or someone posting in a thread that has absolutely no firsthand experience... and only echoes misinformation they read in another thread... Angels form pairs and harems in the wild... there is not a single species that is solitary... but beware and take care... I always say it is not WHAT you mix... but HOW you mix.

Very cool to hear about your flames... and good luck with your others. Keep me in the loop!

Will a clarion angel be to aggressive for your subtropic tank

And what corals do you keep in that tank ( it is one of the most inspirational tank for me )

John,

Terrific update and your fish, as always, look beautiful.
My Queen pair is doing great...the Brazilian seems to be alpha to the Caribbean...there are times they love being close and times when the Brazilian runs the Caribbean away...no harsh aggrssion...curious to see what future holds for them...

Hey Yuri... yes... they are too aggressive and the tank is too small. In my subtropical tank the corals are really just there as filler... the subtropical is to keep so many of the fish that benefit from the lower temps... Right now I have the bandit pair in there with a pair of resplendens hybrids... that's it for angels, but I will probably add my potter's fisher's hybrid and maybe my small interrupta. I've got a mix of anthias... ventralis, smithvanizi, flavoguttatus, and now hawaiiensis anthias... the pair of latezonatus clowns... and collected pair of carmabi basslets... the black tang in there I am going to yank this weekend and move to one of the larger reefs. I really cannot emphasize how beneficial cooler temps are to all fish. :) And you've got plenty of great subtropical options there in your neck buddy!

Thanks buddy! Post a pic or two here! it's funny... I see no aggression with my queens... the clarions on the other hand... :)

On a side note I'll be speaking this weekend in Western CT in your neck at House of Fins in Greenwich at their SPLASH event.
