I admit, it caught my eye as something I might buy, until I saw the price tag!

I take it that this is a variant on the goldstripe maroon.

Man, that's going to be one cool fish when it gets gold.

The fish that Matt had was around 3-4 inches, these fish are juveniles anywhere where you see mixing of colors will show lightening patterns when they grow larger.

Most people are not buying these fish for how they look its the blood lines that they want.

Breeding purposes.

Hmm.. So people are actually hopeful that they will be able to breed and sell these same variants years from now for the high prices? :lmao:

And IME the patterning is usually set on clownfish pretty early on in development.. Do you have any evidence for such pattern changes later on in development?

Yes people will try to breed them
And the patterns on clownfish change thoug out their life span. Some clowns loose stripes some
Gain stripes.

Tomatoes loose stripes as they get old and Clark clowns have bars seperate and almost disappear.

The evidence is in his
Blog check out the fish as they grown the molted area turns more red and the it's starts to look like lightening. None of these fish are going to be exact replicas but I'm very confident they will show
Lightening stripes when they get a lot bigger.

He's got a post dedicated to just that.

I've talked to Matt about this a lot because of a pair of tomatoes that I have with some wierd barring.

Give it time and you will see some amazing patterns on some of the juvis. Even the potential to look even crazier then the original.

With good selective breeding someone will achieve a close replica to the lightening but not identical a it's basically like percula and ocellaris now with all these nasty designer fish.
