The MP20 has Arrived!

There is no 'best' run mode as this will vary based on your preference, tank inhabitants, and rock layout. A 55gal is on the bigger side for an MP20, especially if the SPS are grown in, but it should be fine in the beginning. I'd try short pulse mode and reef-crest random.

One MP40W works great in my 50 gallon (30" x 18" x 21")

I replaced 3 modded NanoStream 6025's with it.

So my MP-20 is shutting off. It runs for a couple of seconds flashes green light and shuts off? any ideas what is wrong?

Most likely the auto-disconnect protection has been enabled while the pump was still attached to your aquarium. Try the following button sequence:

Hold mode (pump will blink white)
Hold mode and set (pump will blink yellow/white)
Unplug and re-plug in the pump.

something else I noticed is that by sinking the pump lower in the water the output seams much higher.

I just installed an MP20 for more flow on my 75, which already has two Sea Swirls for the return. I had heard they were loud so I was shocked when I had to look at the prop to make sure it was on! Completely silent and my corals are looking better already. I'm going to order another one for the other side this week. Well done!

I'm thinking of ordering an MP20 Tank dimensions are 48x24x20high (100gallons). I already have a tunze 6105 and was thinking of getting rid of that to purchase an MP40W. So I would have one MP20 and one MP40w. Or should I just go for two mp40's?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

For a tank that size you should definitely look into the MP40w. Depending on your tank layout you may be able to start with one but ultimately I think you'll be most happy with two. Let us know what you think.

Also, my tank is made of 10mm glass - not a handy inch equivalent. Will this be a problem if the pin spacer settings are in imperial units?

All MP20's have the same components of a Gen2 MP40. Also, there really aren't any Gen1 pumps out there anymore anyway.

for 10mm glass I would use the pump in the 3/8" or 1/2" settings, starting with the 3/8" first.

i currently own a 30" cube which is approximately 100 gallons. I also running a closed loop that puts out about 800g/h.

i would like some additional flow and was wondering if i could hook up a 20, how much additional flow would it generate.

Could i pulse and get some water wave action? i like the idea of the smaller pump and wondering what 500-2000 g/h mean?

One additional question, the cube is a 3/4" acrylic. I realize this is your outermost limit. Will this still be OK for mounting?

I would recommend a 40 for a tank that size and yes, 3/4" thickness will not be a problem.

I currently have an MP40 and am using it for a six ft long tank. Because of the narrowness of the tank the water does get pushed to the end so it is actually working well, I need another unit for the other end. I am thinking of only using the MP20 for a more gentle flow. This way I can actually put corals closer to the pump. What do you think of this idea?
Also how wide is the flow on the 20 at max?

BTW, I am upgrading to a shorter but wider tank. 60 X 29 X 22.

An MP20's flow will be the same as an MP40w turned down, so you should be able to test if it will be desirable for your tank. You will not, however, have the benefit of being able to wireless sync an MP20 to your MP40w.
