the new ORA Bird of Paradise Seriatopora

Is anyone else having PE issues with this seriatopora?
I'd rather have PE issues if I had this coral. That way you get to see the bright base color, like in pnoy's pic. Some of them are so polyped out you hardly see any of the base.

same here, mine is very fuzzy and you cant see the green unless the current hits it just right and blows the polyps down.real healthy though and growing fast for me

Agreed^^^

Yep mines is very fuzy, but doesn't seem to like too much flow, so if you wanna see the base blast it with flow....

just kidin ;-)

ok here is an update of mine...

looks like that coral is hit or miss with the color huh. My polyps don't get as fuzzy and really show the color off

no my color is pretty much the same as the rest, just the pheonix bulbs dont have any actinic to show it off.

I have had it for just about 2 weeks and it seems to be holding its color. Radium 250's no actinic.

It is supposed to be. I bought it at Exotic there in Sac last March, was told it was fragged from a colony grown from an Atlantis frag.

Here's mine... These polyps are soo thick I can barely see the yellow branches. The polyps protrude about 3/8"

I read earlier somebody said its the same as the ATL green with purple polyp hysterix and IMO its not even close.

Just added it to my tank so it's stressed out, and probably the best it's going to look, as I don't see many holding the "stubby polyp" look. Oh... the pics aren't shopped at all... Lighting is 1 - 250w PFO Mini-Pendant with an Aqualine AB 20K bulb.

Not only that but ive seen them in lfs as regular aqua cultured sps. They must really be hurting for corals since they are using the basic stuff. I just hope you folks dont pay more then $20 for a frag of this.

Small frags (3 to 5 tips) are going for 70 bucks at an LFS here on the east coast.

Wow... I was very pleasantly surprised with the size and # of branches on my frag. It's probably the nicest ORA piece I've had the opportunity to purchase thus far.

Mine is showing great PE and looks more fuzzy. I does get a little cranky though when it gets too much flow. I have mine under 400 watt 14k. colors are great.

ive been very happy with ORA frags. plus 1" and well encrusted and i havent paid over $80 for any of them, with most of them in the $50-60 range. so far i have red planet, pearl berry, purlple plazma, plum crazy, voodoo blue stag, blue bottlebrush, oregon blue tort, borealis and roscoes blue. they are all doing great with great PE and no loss of color...they've actually colored up even more. i guess i'm lucky to have a LPS that does a large volume with them and can offer them at reasonable prices. i'll be picking up this bird of paradise next!! i don't care if they are new or old, rare or common.... if they look good and do well they work for me!
