The October meeting!

I am pleased to announce that our string of fun / different meeting venues will continue with our October meeting being hosted by long time club member Steve Ruddy on Saturday, October 10 at 1pm at his house in Guerneville.

For those who aren't aware, Steve is the owner of Coral Reef Eco Systems, doing coral imports, sales and maintenance. His property is beautiful and he has numerous tanks brimming with delightful corals, many of which you don't see every day. It is definitely worth the drive.

But wait, there's more! As a special event I have arranged for Tom Ghiglieri from Pacific Garden Supply, manufacturers of Lumenarc lighting, to come speak to us about reef tank lighting! Turns out Tom is not only quite knowledgable about lighting but appreciates fine fermented grape juice as well. Please join me in giving him a warm Wine Country Reefers welcome at the meeting.

Ken

By the way, you're going to want to use the directions from Steve's website, not MapQuest or similar, as they include more detail and instructions on how to work the gate. Directions to Steve

I will be in Mexico at a full scale reef meeting. Me=meeting a reef! I will be gone most of Oct and will regret missing Steve's place. I have heard about it. Hope all have fun and don't spend too much $$$.

There will most certainly be food and beverages available. I'm not sure yet exactly how it will be handled. We may end up doing a pot luck or I may just volunteer to man the grill. Steve has already volunteered his beautiful property and house for the meeting so I'd rather not burden him with any culinary duties.

Anyone else beside me like to cook?

Ribs are smoking on the Grill at this very moment, I will help

Way to step up Guy! Mmmm, ribs...

I did a killer rib eye roast on Friday and have been slicing chunks off it ever since. :D I didn't do a very good job with the gravy I made from the fond but next time it will be better.

I have been known to do good on a grill. So If we need more help I would be happy to lend a hand.

I just did a mod to my Nexgrill, grown tired of the flame ups.
I took out one of the SS flame tamers and installed a grate and ceramic bricks. This was the first run, but not a good test seeing as how the ribs were held in a rack on the side for indirect heat 2.5 hrs
I need to put a steak on it, or a burger.

Flame ups are not tasty...

Nice job with the temperature control Mr. Indirect Heat.

A couple burgers made from 80% lean ground beef would make good test subjects. And heaven forbid something doesn't work right, nothing bad has happened to a fine steak.

I look forward to being there. I checked and I have no plans so I will see you all there. If there is anything I can do just let me know.
