EcoSmart Live is a state-of-the-art control platform for EcoTech Marine products. Using a remote web-based server, EcoSmart Live enables you to control your Radion Lighting from anywhere in the world from any device by simply logging into our ESL website. In order to use ESL, one of your Radion lights must be plugged directly into a computer running our Connection Manager which then ushers the connection between all of your RF enabled Radion lights and our web based ESL server. This setup is just the starting point for our greater vision. The end-goal is a completely wireless tether.

Utilizing a remote web server platform was not the easiest path, but EcoTech Marine chose this path because we believe it is the superior method of communicating and controlling your lights. This method allows a nontechnical user to access our web server from outside of a home wireless network without adjusting their router and firewall to configure port forwarding, which can be problematic and user un-friendly. ESL's remote server solution means all that is ever needed to access our technology is an internet browser and a simple login from anywhere in the world. This is useful whether you're a home hobbyist with one aquarium or a service professional with 50.

The future of ESL is a complete wireless solution to controlling not only your Radion LED's, but all RF enabled EcoTech Marine products. The exact details of this is a subject for a future press release and conversation. In the meantime, the purpose of this thread is to open an avenue for communication directly with our user base to discuss ESL operation, suggestions, and the state-of-affairs. We strive to achieve 99.99% up-time on our ESL server, however, during this first year of ESL we have fallen short of our goal. Our team is always working to achieve better results and we want to be candid with our consumers in how we will achieve these results. Over the next few weeks we will be developing, testing and deploying updates that are specifically geared towards reliability and availability. After that we will continue to make improvements in this regard to make the issues we have been experiencing become a thing of the past.

We know our customers appreciate EcoTech Marine's paradigm shifting products. Just like the VorTech propeller pump was literally an outside-the-box solution, our remote web server based ESL technology is ground breaking for the reef aquarium industry. For those in the hobby long enough to remember the launch of the VorTech propeller pump, it was not without some challenges. We pride ourselves on exceeding expectations with our products, our quality and our customer service and are humble enough to know when we are failing to accomplish this. With this result in mind, we look forward to ironing out ESL to achieve our 99.99% up-time goal.

This thread will be monitored by myself, our lead ESL engineer, as well as our customer service staff. All ESL related questions, complaints or outages if they arise should be posted here so that we can work to answer and address everything promptly and professionally. Thank you for your assistance.

Tim, fantastic post.
I need to pay more attention to these stickies!

Suggestions for ESL:

1. Online database for user uploaded graphs to make sharing easier.

2. A way to adjust the brightness across the board. As far as I know, if i want to up my overall intensity from 55% to 60%, i currently have to adjust each point on the graph separately.

3. Integration with GHL Profilux would be awesome.

Thank you for the suggestions. Regarding item #1, we completely agree that a central repository for user graphs would be a great feature. In the very near future we will be releasing support for Facebook and Dropbox graph sharing.

Regarding item #2, the next release will include this feature. Keep your eyes out this week for the "overall brightness" slider when using Artificial mode. Please note that you can currently adjust the overall brightness of Natural mode graphs.

Regarding item #3, we are constantly on the lookout for 3rd party vendors and partners to integrate with EcoSmart Live. We will add this one to our short list.

Again we appreciate the feedback.

ESL - Daily Schedule Tab Greyed Out? No Graph?

ESL - Daily Schedule Tab Greyed Out? No Graph?

EcoTech/All...having a potentially serious issue with ESL. I was doing some adjusting to my light schedule on Saturday (after updating to the most current version of the Connection Manager)...after programing my lights I close down ESL (using Safari like I always have). I went back a few minutes later just to verify all of my changes "took" and when I log in to ESL, the Daily Schedule tab (see attached screen shot) is sort of greyed out or very hard to see the text on the page and my graph does not appear to be there either...if I connect via USB, all of my lights are still recognized, etc. but the Daily Schedule tab appears to be in a haze, and my graph is still not present...my lights appear to be running the correct program (from what I can tell as I am watching closely) but I really do not know what exact parameters are being run. Can someone please help me remedy....thanks.

Can you please private message me with your email address so I can take a look at your profile. I appreciate it and apologize for inconvenience this may have caused.

Shaun...thanks for the quick reply, but EcoTech Support does not accept private messages as I get the following error:

"EcoTech Support has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

Thanks Shaun....got your email this ESL issue appears to be resolved. :)

EcoTech Marine...here are a few additional issues (or possible improvements) that I have noticed with ESL.

1. Whenever I upload a previously saved schedule, all of the "Preset" information is lost in the color selection pop-up screen. To clarify, the percentages of the color channels is correct and retained, but the "Presets" window always moves to "Custom" even though I am using presets such as 18K, 20K, etc.

2. The Brightness Slider functionality seems odd or maybe I am not understanding/using it correctly. I have a curve that ramps up in the morning to a peak and back down during the evening. When I adjust the Brightness Slider it is changing all of the points to that new brightness level and I lose the ramp up/down of my curve. Essentially, I end up with a straight line at the new brightness. Is this how the Brightness Slider is supposed to work?

Thanks, JPB

hey Ecotech , the brightness kept changing to 100% even though i have set it to 5%.

everytime when i login it will change . it is shown in the Red box on the screenshot

i tried using firefox , Safari and chrome .

I would really like to have a button in ESL that can put pumps into Feed Mode. Other modes would be great too, but mostly Feed Mode. Then I could completely hide my Vortech controllers. I hate to buy a WXM module, when I could just do it from ESL. The site already has a feature that puts pumps into Night Mode automatically at the end of the night, but a manual on/off feature would be nice too.

EcoSmart Live is down due to a Network Solutions outage. We will keep you all informed when the site is back online.

EcoSmart Live is online. We have confirmed that the outage was caused by our domain name/DNS provider Network Solutions. We are currently working to find alternate partners to avoid outages like this one in the future.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during the outage.

Lately, I have had issues with ESL not "seeing" that my Radion Pro is connected. The Connection Manager shows it as "connected", but the ESL web page (Chrome browser on Windows 7 laptop) shows it as "disconnected". After many attempts of plugging and unplugging, having ESL running first or not, and having Radion USB plugged in or not plugged in, I am able to get it to work. Not sure what the issue is but it can be very frustrating. When it does eventually "connect", it is usually with ESL up and running first with Radion USB not plugged in, then plugging in the USB once the ESL web page is loaded in the browser.
Hope that is not too confusing and that this is the right thread to put this kind of thing...

Russ,

When experiencing that type of issue, I would recommend quitting the Connection Manager and logging out of ESL. By restarting both, you can generally solve that type of problem.
