The Pet Cafe is having an awesome sale.

I was just at the Pet Cafe and they are having a giant sale.

All their stuff is 20% off. I bought a mag 9.5 for 90 bucks. All the mag drives were super cheap. They also had the coralife T-5's really cheap (like $55 for the 48", and they had all sizes.)

I was talking to Gary the owner and they said they were going to start bringing in more rare and exotic livestock. Also, he told me they were going to start bringing in Rod's food, which is great for me since I have to order it through premium and pay a fortune for it.

He sounded pretty open to taking suggestions as to what people wanted or needed. I asked him about some Picasso clowns, and he said his ORA girl told him that they would be available sometime late this month or early next. I think he is going to bring them in.

Anyhow, awesome sale there if you need to get some spare stuff are starting a new tank. I was pumped. Hope I can help someone out.

Huh?

Huh?

Is that a typo, or do Coralife 48" T5s really cost $55 "on sale"? Yikes.

Pretty steep, when you can get ATI, UVL or Giesmann for half that...

No criticism of Pet Cafe...just Coralife bulbs... been there, done that. No thanks.

Does sound like a great sale, and now that gasoline is $1.38 a gallon, maybe time for a road trip! :)

When I read that I thought it must be a coralife fixture. *shrugs*

Duuuh! That makes sense...:eek1:

He said they were going to order the Rod's food today, so I guess he will have it by the weekend or so. And the price on the Coralife was for the fixture. I am not a big fan of coralife but some people out there are.

A bit off topic, but unless they've changed something recently, AFAIK Coralife T5 fixtures and bulbs ARE NOT the high output (HO) variety. This means that a 48" tube from is rated at 28 watts, not 54, and the Coralife fixture can only fire their 28 watt tubes. While they might be fine for fish only applications, I can't see them useful for anything else, definitely not very useful for a reef application.

I have one I use as a spare. They are NOT high output but there are 2 bulbs,a 28 watt 10,000k daylight and a 28 watt actinic blue and they are rated at 54 watts total!

Ideal for over a sump or other low light tank.

Also suitable for shallow tanks with low light corals.

I was there on Thursday and they were really nice people. The store is based on a cool and interesting concept and I liked their tank set up. it was pretty empty when I went to look, but they said they're selling it all off to upgrade their lighting and move on to cooler critters. Both people I spoke with seemed to really have a handle on their stuff and were "real people" not salesmen.

I think he said their flake food was around 40% off and there were some other things with differing markdowns.

I didn't buy anything because my tanks are maxed out, but I'll have no trouble spending money with them in the future

Hey I was just in there and picked up some Rod's Food. They had the fish only blend and the original blend. I was pretty happy. Apparently, they had already sold quite a bit, and they just got it in today.

His goal is to sell the more random/special items rather than stock flake food and the like. Said he can't compete with local pet supermarts on that front.

The couple that own the place are very nice, and will order stuff based on suggestion.
