The rebuild

Well after recovering from the tank crash and letting the rock cure back out I have set the tank back up. I decided I am going to close up the hole in the wall and and give the closet back to the wife. I was going to have to close the hole up and fix it all eventually any way, so I figure better now then while I am trying to move.

So I set up a new 40br up stairs in our loft. Man I really like the dimensions on this tank. I built a 40 gallon acrylic fuge for it. Flow is a Vortech MP40w!! 250 W MH Lumenmax III Pheonix 14K(I will be replacing this) and an ARO ballast. I built an internal overflow and drilled the tank, so it is RR now.

I set the tank up a couple weeks ago and have been letting it run. I transferred some rock and corals into it today, I will probably let the LR I have cook for a couple more weeks and add it, mostly to the sump. I really like the open feel and look and will be going for that style. I really like the way Derrick(loosehip) did his and will try and mach that look.

The new tank will be Zoas, Ricordia, Hammer, Frogspawn, and blastos only. So if anyone has anything let me know I will need to start stocking this baby.

Here are a couple of very early pics, there is a LOT of work yet to be done. But it will eventually be there. I am really glad to have the new tank up though.

Thanks for looking

And again if anyone has any cool Zoas, rics, blastos, hammers or frogspawns, let me know what you got.

Thansks guys!! Its good to ge working on another softie/LPS tank. I love my SPS tank, but the movement of a LPS tank is awesome.

Thanks again everyone.

Hey leif, Nice to see you didn't get outta the hobby! I am getting ready to do a 40 brd aswell was it hard to drill and do the overflow? When I get mine if you did it yourself could you help me do mine since we live pretty close?
LMK...
Thanks,
Josh

It is really easy to drill, and easy to build the overflow, that is just a little time consuming but still easy. No prob, get in touch with me when you are ready to do it and we can bang it out!

I just got through commandeering the stairway closet to put my 60g sump/fuge in. I really like the setup, the wife thinks I'm nuts.

Originally I had a humidity problem, but I think I got that tackled. Did you have a humidity problem?

Tank looks good too.

looks good Leif I have a frag of Zoas if you want 'em. They are the ones in the lower right front of this pic peeking out from under the mushroom. there is 8-10 heads on it and it is loose not on a plug. Let meknow.

Powerman, if I kept the door shut it would get kind of sticky in there, so I just left it cracked, and I had a fan in there blowing 24/7 so that really seemed to help out a lot. If we had company over i would close the door and it seemed fine for a few hours no problems there, them I would just crack the door again.

dtech, Thanks for the offer, I would love to come and check out your tank sometime, was there supposed to be a pic.

All you really need is some acrylic, if I remember correctly the tank inside is like 15 5/8" tall, and I made the over flow 6" X 8" So as long as it is bigger than that we can cup and route it to size and then joint them. I have the Weldon #3 to join it so tall you should need is the acrylic, I have the diamond hole saws too.

Hey Leif,

If you find yourself down south, you are more than welcome to some bright green hammer or pink frogspawn. I also have a few zoas and some green sinualria that you are welcome to. Next time you run down to Sharon's or Ki's... give me a call and plan on dropping by. You can also check out the stand you finished for me. :)

Sorry about that had some computer issues yesterday. This is the pic I was referencing. It is a pic of the 3g when I had it up and runing but you can see them best in this pic.
