awe, sorry to hear about you losing your fish. How'd it happen? how many did you lose? if you dont want to talk about it i understand.

gaw, I think this is right but the deminsions of the tank are roughly 24" side panel , 44"across the front and 36" deep. The overflow panels are 10" each. I never clean the side panels or the overflow panels at all. Mainly the snails take care of it for me. I have nevr really had an issue with algea on them except when some of my snails dies. But even then there wasn't very much on there. How many snails do you have

Any advice would be nice and appreciated. I want to get a little flow over the middle of the tank where I added alot of my sps' and I was thinking of adding some nano Koralias becuase I just want a little bit of flow while keeping a sleeker design.

go for the 6025 s there a great powerhead, i think they are the best ive ever used myself and fully recommend them

Im kinda ok w it now, it sux but, it'll teach me to do things slower and better next time w the fish, thankfully like I said my corals are all ok. As long as my clowns make it I'll be fine (emotionally not financially). Im holding off on the gobies I was going to get. This crash will elt me do my stocking list correctly now. What I lost is as follows, 2 anthias, 1 emperor angel(juvi), 1 rock beauty angel (juvi), 1 lawnmower blenny & 1 moorish Idol. The rock beauty was eating at the store, but never ate in my tank, just picked at the rocks. She died. Then the next day I came in and the anthias, blenny, were dead. I saw the idol, potters & emperor had gotten ick. The Idol and emperor died that same day & the potter seems to be kicking it. Funny because both the idol & emperor ate like crazy, while the potters was like the rockbeauty, picks only at rocks. Of this list I did want to remove the rock beauty & the emperor angels. Because the emperor was simply going to be to big eventually for my tank & the rock beauty picked at my corals (not enough to damage them [yet!!!]). I know rock beauties arent reef safe I had one before that never picked on a thing, but then again she was well fed & ate everything I put in the tank, had to give her away because my upgrade took to long.

Now I plan on either sitting putw my clowns & potters or try to quarintine them for 6 weeks (to kill the ick in my display) and redo my stocking list as follows (in the order I would add them).
-Pair of clownfish
-Moorish Idol
-One Spot Foxface
-Potters Angel
-Flame Angel
-Orange Spotted Rock Blenny
-Sleeper Head Goby
-Neon Goby
-Purple Firefish
-Red Firefish
-Pair of Lyretail Anthias
-Pair of Flame Wrasses or Lineatus Wrasses*
-Powder Blue Tang*

*Only if the bioload is still good enough to fit if not NOOOO.
Thanks for all your concern, its part of the hobby though, plus I knew very well what I was trying to do, unfortunetely it didnt work out in my favor. Sorry for the ramble...

dont give in pal, its part of the hobby, and you will learn from it, chin up and keep smiling, its a hobby, frustrating but you will get there

Like I said, Im ok, thanks for the support, but I risked it and lost this time, I know how it goes, the important thing is to learn to attempt to avoid this again. My clowns sure do like having the tank to themselves now, lol.

bernie what kind of corals are you wanting to keep? If wanting to keep any sps i'd stay away from the angels. I had to catch my coral beauty which was absolutely stunning, and now have to catch the flame angel (which is one of the original fish). Both of these were eating my new sps.

you are right about angels, very hit and miss, my lemon peel is no problem but im lucky, they are a gamble i agree

Yeah I know angels are hit or miss, I have owned alot of them at 1 point or another. My tank iss a SPS mostly w a few LPS and very little softies. Unfortunately I have a passion for Angels so it wont be stopping me. I do intend on being careful, but it is what it is. I also feed the tank alot, it helps in keeping fish from picking (helps not eliminates) that why I have a monster skimmer, for the bigger bioload & heavy feeding for a passion of fish that make reefkeeping a headache, lol. Why couldnt I just like gobies or something else??? LOL.

oh michael thanks for the idea on the nano tunze. I think those are going to work great. Anyone have any ideas on how to get my other angel out? I got the other out in a trap and tried with leaving a net in there for a coupe days on this guy.

Try the inverted coke bottle trick. Cut the top part of the bottle, then cut the cap part to a hole big enough for the angel to fit. the invert the top part on the bottle into the bottom part. glue them together, then poke lil holes into the bottom so that it sinks, put food in there & when the fish swims in, pull the bottle out.

Hey btb, sounds like a nice size tank you have. About 6-8 weeks ago I add 50 astrea, 50 cerith, and 50 nassarius snails to the tank. They are doing fine taking care of the bad algae and detritus. What I'm having trouble cleaning is the coraline algae in the far corners of the tank. It's all I can do to reach the corners with a 24" scrubber, and then there's no real leverage available to really get the elbow grease working. I've tried to scrape carefully with a blade and left some scratches in the corners so I'm looking for alternatives. I'll just keep trying different scrapers, pads, etc. till I find one that really works well. Or, I could hire a midget to get in there. LOL:D

oh ya yours is a pentagon, didn't see that in the picture. Ya mine is a bowfront. But in the bottom corners I made a scraper to clean it. Its 3/4 inch pvc pipe (i think) with a algae pad rubberbanded on the front of it. but ya getting enough leverage is the hardest part about cleaning the bottom. But that is how I do it. Then I have the heavy duty mag to clean the rest of it.

good idea bernie. So you glue the top part to the bottom to make is sink? a little confused but i think i'm going to try that. I'll probably catch everything else in the process...
