I started a thread a while ago about painting my stand. I was really concerned about the fumes and such, killing my reef. I found a brand of paint that was perfect. It is Called Mythic paint. It has zero VOC's, and almost no odor. They use it in Veterinary offices, childrens schools, etc. It seems to be the safest stuff out there. Well, bought it on ebay. Mythic has a website to pick your colors. Two sample cans in the color of my choice was around $12. Two 16oz cans did the entire job...with plenty left over. There was no significant odor...but, I ran a fan anyway. The protein skimmer did not do anything abnormal. Not one coral acted funny or closed!!!! I would recommend this brand of paint to anyone...it was fantastic. Even states it is safe in a bird room!!
Here are the pics of all the work finished. I also decided to put wood framing around the actual tank. To cover the silicone edges and algae. I used industrial strength Velcro to make it stick. So, I can take it off at any time to paint it..or whatever. I just wanted it removable.
