Yeah but the torque looks a bit weak

20 oz-in min

I think that that motor would do the job......
I was luky to find a higher torque
but remember ,..........under the water the weight is less:D

Isayso,

You said the motor you used was $5. The one you linked to is $100!

Can't you just post the exact make and model you bought so we can find it ourselves?

I found one at princessauto.com for $4.99 marked down to $0.99 but its a 240v not a 110v.

Anyway what is the oz-in torque on your motor, do you know?

In one of his first posts I believe he said "3 lbs". Thats a nice little motor. It's likely that strong since it's a bit on the slow side.

i coudnt find the one that I have
but that the shape and making

I finally got around to making one of these things this morning. I made a couple of changes from Luigi's but all in all its pretty much the same.

For the shaft I used 1/2"cpvc and it is secured top and bottom with 1/2" pvc bushings. The cpvc slips inside the pvc bushing quite nicely allowing free movement with very little side to side movement.

For the motor I used a BBQ rotisserie that I had laying around. It turns at 0.8 rpm and has a ton of torque.

Heres a couple of quick pics:

Will YOU post the make and model of the motor? I'm not sure why it has to be kept a mystery.

No secret, just not that important, there are a ton of different options for motors. BBQ rotisserie motors are probably a sure thing because they need to run slow and have enough torque to turn a large roast. I got mine from WallyMart a couple of years ago, on the motor it says"The Everjuan Ent Co Ltd Made in Taiwan"

Only problem is you have to find or buy a rotisserie to get the motor. And that could run into $100 or more.

Veyr nice Brad. What did you use for the cam extension? I am still hunting around for the right motor to use.

I went ghetto and bent up a piece of coat hanger wire. My local hobby shop is relocating so its closed for this week, once it opens back up again I'm going to look into some of the control rods for R/C planes.

BTW: your "how it works" link gave me another idea for multiple pumps to run by one motor, I'm thinking of 3 Maxistreams along the back wall of my tank rotating all the time. Could be fun. :smokin:

Ummm... More than half of the posts on this thread are about which motor to use, yet, you say it's not important.

The original poster claims to have bought a $5 motor from an auto supply, won't say what the make and model number is, and links us to a $100 motor as an example. Sounds pretty mysterious to me.

Nah the universal cheapy's run about $15. Trust me I'm cheap!:)

Next time your out take a look at walmart, Home Depot or Lowes there should be a universal "fits any BBQ" rotisserie with the BBQ stuff.
