the swirler-stein

I've been to Princess Auto before and its a DIYers heaven, but its a lot of close out and liquidation type stuff. I'm guessing the motor Luigi has doesn't have any markings on it, thats not uncommon for PA.

Still there is enough info here to get you started, look for a slow 1-2 rpm motor and has some torque to it.

Ok. I guess I was assuming it came in a box, with a make and model number on it. Or, at the least, a sticker on the motor itself with the same. I must be wrong about that.

hmott - I'm just going with what Isayso has posted. Maybe you can use a converter (120v to 240v). I have one for my Denon radio (European version) in the bedroom.

For $1(canadian) maybe it's worth a try.

You can barely read some of the label on the motor in the pictures from the first post if you zoom in. It looks like it say's 115 V 40Hz 4W.
Can't get a model number though, too blurry.

AHAHHAA, I seriously have ADHD... Im watching the movie next thing i know im watching the fish swim by, and the clownfish. And then im like oh yea the SEa swirl thing lol. Awesome DIY

Guys this one would be a great choice(IMO), 0.75 rpm at 4w with a nice shaft to mount an arm to. And the price is right too!

Yeah I thought about order a couple those but since there is no torque rating on it, I decided to go with the 2.5RPM motor instead.

I can't see the numbers all that well close up but I think it's 40 RPM or so. Which is probably a little too fast for this mod.

The more I play with this thing the more I think that torque isn't that big of an issue.

Kabal2: it doesn't say what the rpm is but I would imagine it would be in the 2-3 rpm range, but at $20 there are less expensive motors already in this thread.

EDIT: dhnguyen has better eyes than I do, after taking another look at the egg roller it does look to be 40rpm, way too fast. They must use some type of gear reduction on those things.

there is somebody that is in a rush and urge to do someting......
and so blaming about a link that shows a 100$ motor.....
I Mentioned that is the make of the motor that is the same
but a lower torque,and a lower price
the motor that I bought is from a liquidation store and there is not
LABEL..ONLY SPECS OF THE MOTOR
115v- 4w- 1RPM

Kenzy!
I like the idea of the 4 swirler connected to one motor

I emailed them several days ago.. here is the response I got:

Hello Harlan. Thanks for your recent inquiry for 1/2 to 1 rpm 110/60 motors. Hansen Corp custom manufactures all our motors and we do not stock You can purchase a motor from the following company who stock standard clockwise motors for resale. Please contact H & R Corp. in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Their p/n for a motor to fit your need is H1-01 for a 1RPM motor. The 1/2 RPM ( 30 RPH ) is their p/n H1-27 These motor are rated at 20 in/oz torque, 4 watt at 1RPM. If you definitely need ccw rotation, we can custom build, however the price would be in the $100.00 each range. Again, thanks for your interest. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

I didn't bother finding a number to call that place, I purchased the motors in the link I gave on page 2 I think it was.

Here's a shot of mine running witha pair of 402's. I had to make a minor modification to mine, the acrlylic arm mounted to the motor shaft wasn't holding well enough with just epoxy. So I made another arm out of steel and welded the sucker! Problem solved.

Once I get the Maxistreams built I'll clean up the way its mounted.
