Hi, I have two Reeflux 250w 12k MH with 4 geissman actinic + and I'm not happy at all with the colors.. I want something more blue. Do you have recommendations for the t5 supplementations?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure you can get more blue unless you add more T5's. If your lamps are more than 10 months old you might try replacing them. I would go with ATI Blue Plus.

Change your Halides to 14k or something then.

I have a 5 bulb 24" setup and the bulb selection looks like this:
(back)
giesemann actinic+22k
giesemann midday 6k
KZ figi purple
giesemann midday 6k
giesemann actinic+22k
(front)

I see that you consistantly recommend the ATI blue plus and I actually have a BNIB bulb that I got with the fixture. Should I sub that bulb in and what would I take out? Should I leave it alone?

Edit: This is over a 20g tall that is mostly SPS

Mr Grim,

I have a Current USA Nova SunDial T5 Aquarium Lighting Fixture, 4X24 Watt, 24 inch over a 20 gallon 24"L x 12"W x 16"H.

Currently I just have the bulbs that came with the fixture which are about a year old. Is it time to replace them? I run the SlimPaq 10Ks 6 hours a day and the 460nm Actinics 10 hours a day. Also what bulbs would you recommend? I don't know much about the different bulbs and can't really afford just to experiment by randomly purchasing them and trying them out. I am keeping zoas, acans, favias, and sps. Thanks for any help you can provide me.

If you happen to have a extra blue lamps I would put it in where one of the midday's are.

Use ATI Blue Plus where the 460's are and a ATI Aquablue and a UVL 75.25 where the 10K's are. Times should be good how they are.

GE 6500k
ATI blue+

Hi I just bought a 36" Aquactinics TX5 for my 40g breeder. The guy I got it from was nice enough to give me 6 bulbs too. I have -
1 Current 39w 460nm Actinic
3 UVL Super Actinic
2 Solar Max 11000
How would you set these up in a 5 lamp fixture?

I will definitely be using these bulbs for now as the tank is brand new and I don't need optimum lighting but what would you use as the ideal 5 bulbs for a mixed reef down the road?

Hey Grim,
I've got a 48x24x24 with an 8 bulb powermodule (dusk dawn at 3 and 6). I'm almost all SPS and I'd like to get a nice 20k look. Mostly to see the color "pop" from the corals. I need a nice punch of par too for coral health and growth.

I think I'm down to this but I'm wondering if I should ditch one of the Fiji's and maybe throw one or two of the new KZ "super blue" or similar 20k or 22k T5 in place of two of the blue plus'. I don't want to give up too much par but does the blue plus give all the "pop" thats needed in the light spectrum?

ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji

ATI Aquablue

Just got my 6x54 Sunpower and plan on hanging it tomorrow. I need to get into the attic to see where the studs are and wether or not I need to put a cross brace between them so I can use that to hang it. I have the hanging wires figured out on how to hang but how exactly do I suspend the fixture from the ceiling? Should I drill a small hole big enough to allow the cable to slid through the drywall and then drill a small hole through the stud. Feed the cable through the hole in the stud and then place the "top hat" on the top side of the stud so it can slide through? Or is there another way?

Second, one side of the fixture has the vent holes. What side of the light bulb should be under those holes? The labeled side, plain side, or it doesn't matter?

Thanks.

Hello Grim. I am setting up a 50 gallon SPS tank. I am going to buy one of the new 36" Sunlight Supply Tek Elite lights. This runs 6x39W T5s. The person where I am going to buy it from recommends the following:
1. ATI Blue Plus
2. GE 6500K
3. ATI Blue Plus
4. ATI Blue Plus
5. KZ Fiji Purple
6. ATI Blue Plus

Do you agree with this selection for a SPS tank?

Thanks!

The label end of the lamps go where the ducts are between the reflectors and endcaps.

As far as hanging dunno. Check out the current sunpod hanging kits. They come with a brace you mount into the drywall with 2 anchors then a cap covers that and holds the wire. I would say it would hold the weight of a Sunpower just fine.
