Grim, Great tread!
Before I go out and buy my new lights I just wanted to get one more opinion. My tank: 55g, 48Lx13Wx18D. I am debating on the Tek5 4x54 or 6x54. I am looking to go SPS/LPS and possibly a clam. The main problem I have with the 6b is it is 15"w and my tank is only 13"w (and the 4b is cheaper). I do not have a hood and I am not going to hang it from the ceiling. I will have to buy the braces to set it on the tank. Any thoughts?

I have a question that I dont know if it has been answered or not. Sorry if it has. This has to do with 54W bulbs, Icecap ballasts and reflectors.
7 bulb Sunlight Supply reflectors or 6 bulb Icecap reflectors??? Right now I have 7 Sunlight Supply and thinking of switching to Icecap. Since they are bigger I cant fit 7 of them over my 75G, only 6...

You would probably want to run a couple of actinic lamps just so you don't melt stuff. That would be really bright over a 55. I'd probably run a Sun, 2 blue plus and 2 actinic lamps in that system. The nice thing would be if you ever move to a taller tank that fixture will give you enough light if you change the lamp mix.

A standard Tek light fixture will work but you need to keep the higher light stuff up on the rocks.
