Does anyone know if they make a 30 inch retrofit kit with good reflectors. and sell bulbs for that size? stupid weird sized tanks. I may look to change out my 24 inch tek light

There is no real reason to make an odd sized retrofit because the lamps are 18, 24, 36" so you just have to select what will fit in your canopy.

A nova extreme pro or Tek light 6 lamp system would be plenty for that tank. A 4 lamp Tek retro would be fine also. A 6 lamp ATI is going to have to be mounted sevel inches above the tank at least to keep from harshing your softies.

Ok Grim thanks for the info.
If I went with the 6 bulb tek what would you suggest for bulbs to give me a bit of bluish look and that would make the corals fluoresce?

Thanx, Jason

Yea i have a 30" long tank and i just wanted the bulbs to go all the way accross. I kinda dont like it now because their are dim spots on both sides of my tank with the 24" fixture.

Hey Grim,

Using this confige on a 120g all SPS tank. Wondering what the downside might be.

About all you can do to remedy that with T5's is to get retrofits and stagger the bulbs.

Can anyone please explain to me to me how your convert ppfd to par? i know those ppfd numbers can not be the par...

I'd put the actinic up front so it's light is on the viewing side of your corals. Other than that I do see a problem

Not sure that you can. PPFD if I remember right is a sample of PAR taken over a larger target area so it's measuring the same thing but expressing it using a different standard.

Thanx Grim I appreciate the help.

How do the UVL 75.25 and ATI Blue Plus compare Par wise. Also, does anyone still have the par levels handy for various bulbs? I remembering seeing it a long time ago but can't find it again.

Thanks!

I KNOW!!!

I'm looking into meters and whatnot now. I figure I'll just get some advertisement support and try getting bulbs to test, I can pick up the most common ballasts myself. And just make one big MH/T5 info center. For every bulb we can have photos, PAR, spectros, etc for each ballast.

Got a D80 for the pictures, just need to see if it's viable.. until then though, I second this anyone have links or somehing?

Hi Grim

I have a Tek 8 x 48" lamp fixture ,bulbs have to be changed.
My tank is 20" deep ,I have mostly sps,a few tridacnias and croceas
Since there are new bulb colors, what would you recommend as bulb colors now?
Keep in mind I want a blueish tint.
Thanks in advance
