The T5's are more efficient and the reflectors make a huge difference. If your tank is much over 20 inches tall and if you want clams and anemones etc. you should get an overdriven T5 setup.

Its actually just 18" tall. Would the 4x54 watts that you recommended be enough for sps if i wanted to go that way?

Yes, just stick with Aquactinics or Ice Cap reflectors.

I've been referred to you many times for my question...

4 bulb 24"... Tank is only 12" deep. I'm mainly propagating zoantids and palythoas. What is you recommendation for growth/color?

Hey Grim - quick question..

I have a 48" 75g and I am upgrading my lighting from a JBJ PC fixture to a 6 bulb Tek Light. Currently all I have are a bunch of Mushrooms, but would like to start with some softies and LPS and eventually maybe some SPS and clams. What is the best bulb combo if I want to achieve more of a blue-ish tint?

Thanks!

Also - what do you recommend as the best way to acclimate my coral to the new increased lighting? I am going from 192w PC's to 324w T-5's.

Anyone have any experience with the Hamilton T5 fixtures? Better, worse or same as the ReefGeek fixtures? Gonna order soon, so want to make the right decision. Also bulb selection for a 58 to grow LPS and softies. Thanks

What do you guys think of fittings like THESE?

It doesn't give you any information on the type of ballasts they use. It also looks like you'd have to do something about the endcaps because they don't look like they're waterproof.

Any suggestions on an 8 bulb 36" config using only UV and DD bulbs to get as close to a 14k look with a well balanced color spectrum (read: not just blue and white).

TIA

Grim question, other than the bulbs is the only difference between the Nova Extreme Pro and the Constellation the reflectors, (other than the extra row of bulbs)? I have a 135gal (72"x18"x25" Tall) so I want to get a 72" light. I am upgrading from a Corlalife Lunar Aqualight w/ pc bulbs. Will either of these light work?

Grim, I have a 24" 6 lamp kit and would like some bulb combo's for a 20K look.(Nice POP) I have a fully stocked 20" Deep SPS tank, so I need the par as well!

Would bulb combo do you think will look nice as well as give me good par for the SPS?

Mainly the reflectors. I think the Constellation may do a slightly better job of cooling the ballasts butI doubt I would enter that into the decision between the two
