grim is a 6 bulb t5 good for a 120

If it's a Tek it's OK. Anything less and you are limited to softies for the most part, maybe some LPS.

grim - i was able to get a good deal on a nove extreme pro 6x54 t5 setup, with the contoured reflectors. i know this is not the best setup, but it was a good deal and it was new. my 75g is about 18" high, which bulbs do you recommend for sps and clam? if i have to, i will put them as far up as needed. thanks in advance

front
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue

You will want to keep clams up off the bottom just a little

edit....nevermine. i was asking if it was ok to run a 80w bulb on the nova fixture that is rated for 54w, because i didnt see the 54w bulb listing. please disregard this post.

If you had your choice, would you get the constellation 7 bulbs or a TEK light. I want to make sure I get the best bang for my $

Grim, thanks for our input. I have a dual front (see-thru) tank so I'll mount the fans on the ends and blow the air across the end caps. Your valuable guideance and dedicated time is appreciated by all of us. Jim

Was there a fan that is attachable to Tek lights?

No. Someone made a DIY fan that hangs on the side and they were going to incorporate that into a redesign of the Tek light but evidentally they had issues.

Constellation hands down.

Is there a fan that you would recommend for such an application?

I'd do two low speed fans at each end so you are getting the air to all the lamps. You might be able to make a baffle or something to make it work.

Hey grim, I have a 90 gallon sps tank that is 24" deep. I just got a current 8 x 54w fixture. Firstly is this enough light for sps and clams. Secondly, what is a good bulb setup for this fixture. And, finally i have heard a lot about over driving t-5's, is this something to look into or stay away from.
Thx

question on a 4 bulb configuration on ic660 24" what would be the best bulb configuration to get excellent color. at the moment i'm running a giesseman pure actinic, and aqua blue, uvl aqua sun and actinic plus. i've got ecellent growth but brown colors. :( didnt really look at this forum until recently and have been finding all kinds of bulb configs.

oh and i'm sure you already know or may not know but are the uvl's running at 40W since they are variable and the IC will run the higher voltage?
TIA

Hey Grim,
I have a 4' long T5 HO light fixture, with eight bulbs. I am looking for advice on what types of T5 bulbs I should put in it. There are two ballasts, each one on there own power supply. Ever other bulb is controlled by each ballast. Softies and LPS

I wouldn't try SPS on a 90 with a Nova fixture. If you are going to try use 3 ATI Blue Plus, 3 ATI Aquablues and 2 UVL Aquasuns There's no point to trying to overdrive lamps in a fixture that doesn't have good reflectors

I would do 2 Actinic Plus, one Aquablue and 1 UVL Aquasun.

The UVL lamp doesn't run any harder on the IC ballast than any other brand. They might last a little longer due to the beefier electrodes.
