ha!

i just messed with my setup...

its now:

blue+
blue+
actinic
aquablue
fiji purple
blue+
actinic
blue+

almost 20K. but not quite there yet. cant lose another aquablue either.

thats all folks.

Phish, YIKES... That is so BLUE...! I think you're like a 40K fan, not 20K, lol!

Is there some kind of way to figure out your kelvin with your T-5 combo?

If anyone knows >>>

- UVL Super Actinic
- AquaBlue+
- UVL Aquasun
- Geisseman Blue+

Also, What can I use to clean salt spray off my reflectors of a Tek?

Grim,
I have a Sunlight Supply Tek 48" 6X 54w bulb fixture.
I bought some cheap_ss bulbs when I bought
the fixture. I am ready to do things right.
I have this over a standard 90g (48.5X18.5X25.5)
with a tang, frogspawn,
montipora plates, & montipora digitatas.
I have 4 daylight bulbs (sry can't be more
specific with ratings) & 2 actinic bulbs.
I do not like it with just the daylight, makes the
tank look dirty (although it isn't). The blue makes the
tank look much better.
Any recommendations, brand, type, etc?
Thanks Much Reefer.......

You are talking something around 15K with that mix

I'm thinking about going to t-5's. Tank is 17" front to back but only 14" deep. How many and what bulbs would you suggest. How high off the water can they be on such a shallow tank. With the halides I really like the working space. Tank will be sps and clams.

Thanks
Don

Reef, I'm laying out a 72" fixture with 6 5' bulbs and 2.5" reflectors. There will be no shield below the bulbs (fixture 4" above the tank). Also the ballasts will be located in a cabinet alongside the tank. Now for my problem: Mounting a fan on each end of the fixture can be done but without a shield the air flow won't wash the bulbs. Do the bulbs need forced convention cooling or can I just have slots along the top for natural convection air flow? Do the T5 bulbs get hot? Sorry for the dumb question. Jim

Grim I have a 4 x 54 T5 retro that has 2 ATI blue plus, 1 ULV 10K aquasun and I used to have a ULV super actinic (not anymore the cat broke it don't ask) and the color was too purple and I think it was due to the ULV super actinic.

I wanted to replace this bulb anyways and now I can. I went to my LFS and they only had a 10K which I bought so I could have light and it's back to being too yellow. I want a 12-14k look and was wondering which of these bulbs you would recommed with my 2 ati blue plus and ulv 10k aquasun.

1)11k aquablue by giesman
2)12k actinic white 50/50 UVL
3)12k aquablue ATI
4)14k aquablue 75/25 UVL

I was initially thinking the 12k actinic white 50/50 UVL because it looks like it has the most growing power looking at the ligh spectrum it puts out.

Thanks a bunch...

grim have you heard anyhting about the new uvl bulbs coming out. Like the 454nm Suppose to be alot like the ati blue +???

Aquactinics Tx5 would be great for that tank. You could hang it 6 inches above the tank and easily have enough PAR.

Just mount the fans so they blow down the row of endcaps on each side from the back. You just want to move a slight amount of fresh air past the ends of the lamps. Put a vent in the center top and you should be fine. All you really need to do is move the air slightly.

Try the 75/25, the actinic white is pink too.

Take out a sun pro and add a Aquablue ATI lamp or a UVL Super Actinic. I'd probably do the actinic.
