Hey Grim, what fixture would you say is better, the 72" current extreme pro with the 12 x 39w t5 or the 72" Aquatinics T5 fixture, with the 14 x 39w t5s, and why?

The Aquactinics hands down. Better cooling, better ballasts, better reflectors. Better fixture all the way around.

I have decided to go with the sunpower, i have contatacted Reefgeeks and will have one on its way to me soon. Now with reefgeeks i get the 6 free bulbs so would it be to much trouble for you to help me out with what bulbs i should get i can choose from any on here.

Please keep in mind i would like to keep mostly sps, and a acan nd zoo one or two at the bottom of the tank. I know i would want two good attinic's on the end and a fiji in the middle. So what else should i throw in there. I would rather better growth then coral too by the way.

I have a 48" NEP over my 75g with mostly LPS.

Front to Back:

Current 460
UVL SA
Current 460
UVL SA
Current 10k
Current 460

I am getting growth but the colors seems to be more pastel than vibrant

I have a Aquamedic 20k sitting in the closet and am interested in trying the Aquascience 22k's but was wondering if there was a better combo out there.

All bulbs have been running since Oct so its probably getting close to replacement time anyway

Hey Grim,
UVL t5 bulbs now have an internal reflector, Is that a good thing or now will the light not reflect offthe reflectors?

OK Grim, going now with the 72" The Aquactinics Constellation, with 14 x 39w T5s, recommended, bulb colors and order? Remember, I have two RBTAs(1'+), Ritteri Anemone.
Maybe adding in sps, but not for a while, currently starburst, mushrooms, frogspawn, yellow pollups, toadstools, long hairy pollups, and Rittari Anemone too. Will be adding more in, due have a lot of tangs, etc.

Hey grim, I'm going from a 6 bulb fixture that has an IC660 and IC430 with an unknown brand reflector that is bent for each bulb to a 4 bulb setup with individual reflectors by IceCap on an IC660 with Geisman bulbs

Is it possible I would see the same growth since I have better reflectors? or will it be a little bit better or just less?

And what would I do for cooling the fixture if itll be a retro?

Thank you

eBay T5 light fixtures any good?

eBay T5 light fixtures any good?

Has anybody tried any of those T5 fixtures sold by torontofalls on eBay?

Search 48'' Aquarium Light T5 HO 6X 54 Lighting w/bulbs NIB to find a typical auction. The sell for around $250.

I was thinking about trying them - I would dump the cheap bulbs, replacing them with a nice UVL and ATI combo. I guess the question - will the ballasts in this fixture be sufficient to make the good quality bulbs perform?

Don't badmouth eBay - I am just wondering if anyone has actually tried this or a similar fixture from this seller...

Thanks.

LL

Please, where can I buy the Aquactinics fixtures?
Do they make Aquatinics bulbs? If so, are they better than ATIs?
Thanks,
Grandis.

Please explain remove the system from the hole. I will be cutting a 4" by 20" long hole on both sides.

To remove the aquarium from the that place and put it in an open space for better air circulation.

Another option to me would be to get a fixture with legs to rest on the tank. Your canopy is just too enclosed. Well, at least looks like. Another thing would be the possible damage from evaporation on the top dry wall.

Cheers,
Grandis.

I promise it is not worth the time or money for generic fixtures found on ebay. When I got one once the ballast would go out for 48 hours at a time and then work again for a week then quit again. Total nightmare and my tank had fits.

When I contacted the seller they told me to contact the manufacturer that was located in China. No way in hell I was shipping stuff to China. Not worth the hassle for one second. Go get a Current USA fixture instead.

I believe that Premium Aquatics sells those fixtures. ATI are the best bulbs all around but I like to mix it up with either some KZ or UVL stuff.

Hi Grim Reeper,
I have a Oceanic Tech 120 set up as a reef with 95% SPS.
I have recently changed over from HQI MH and T5 to all T5s.
I have a Retro setup in my canopy with a total of 12 - 54wt T5s.
I mounted 3 - 4inch AC fans blowing from back to front, one on each side and one in the middle. There is also a 4 inch AC fan mounted on one side of the canopy puching the hot air out of the canopy.
Can you please tell me if I should change my fans around and what bulbs that you recommend to mix for my setup?

Thanks

best t5 bulb type/arrangement?
454 blue
03 purple
act white
sun 10k
was recommended to me by a friend.
3 foot fixture, tank is only 10" deep and the fixture is on the legs.
im sure they are all good arrangements...but just wondering what people prefer and get the best growth and color out of.
will be a variety of corals in the tank and whatever looks and does the best will stay there.
thanks.
this is my post....was sent here for.
thanks in advance for the answers.
