The Time Is Finally Here...

Not yet. I don't think he's done with his pro career. However, he's starting to look a bit tired this year. I bet he'll retire within 5 years.

Also, he has zero coaching experience (AFAIK). This is simply too highprofile a job in too high caliber a conference to "learn the ropes." I could definitely see him being Offensive Coordinator here, and perhaps Head Coach down the line... say, 5 and 10 years respectively.

As a vaguely related aside, I picked up some very nice looking mushrooms this weekend. I'll call them "Fulmer Oranges" commemoratively:

IThe only team that has a really good shot is Penn state due to ease of schedule, but ironically it could leave them out of the national championship hunt.
So much for the Lions but Tech was unstoppable against Okie State tonight. Can't wait for the Boomer Sooner game in 2.

I'd like to see some of these high powered Big 12 offenses go up against a real defense. If TexasTech goes all the way and plays Florida in the BCS championship, I have a feeling it's going to look a lot like Hawaii v. Georgia last year - Hawaii's high powered offense was completely impotent.

I suspect you'll get your chance. TTU/OU vs. Missouri in the Big 12 championship. TTU/OU vs. Alabama/Florida for the championship. I'm guessing OU vs. Florida. And OU for the title.

The Big12 and the SEC are looking pretty good right now. I did get to watch the end of the Texas Tech - Oklahoma State game and that Tech offense is fun to watch.
I also thought it was funny that Leach has a scrap of paper with his plays on it instead of a big laminated board like most.
He ceartainly looks the part of offensive genius.

I love how everybody is saying that Florida will likely be playing for a national championship, that is exactly what Alabama needs :)

The SEC is have a rough year minus Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. I expected Georgia to totally dominate with a senior Stafford, 2 great wide receivers, and an awesome running back. You better get a good head coach or you could have a couple of really long years ahead, take it from an Alabama fan that has seen 4 coaches while I was in college eek. What about Tommy Tubberville lol? It's possible no? There really does not seem like to many high profile coaches out there this year but maybe ya'll can snag one... three possibly four more games for Alabama, Roll Tide Roll

Just looked at espn and we only have 4 top 25 teams, not too good for the SEC though it looks like we should feel up the bowl slot for the SEC barely.

It sure is a sad year here on Rocky top but I'm with you Randy.

Go Vols!!!!!!

On a happier note the boys play my alma mater (MTSU) at 8:30 tonight on CSS:)

Go Vols!!!!!!

That would make it a nice weekend:)
I like Bret but not this weekend.

FWIW TN's coaching candidate update:

Butch Davis's NC team got killed by NC State
Brian Kelly's team is beating Pitt pretty good
Mike Leach's TX Tech team is getting hammered by OK

Edit: Props to Miss for taking LSU behind the woodshed:)

I'll root for Ole Miss over LSU any day of the week... :D

Chris~ I noticed the same thing about our coaching candidates... Time will tell... No one is a 100% sure thing...

Congrats to Vol fans. I may still be a disgruntled ACC-fan transplant to East Tennesee, but it is nice to see a Tennessee win while Fulmer is on his way out. Then again, after the trouncing Georgia Tech gave Miami on Thursday, I am feeling rather magnanimous. :D

Oh well... I didn't think the Titans would go undefeated... :(

Yeah they had to loose sometime.
