The Time Is Finally Here...

Yep, and against a pretty good team. We didn't play well and they did. Maybe this will wake UT up...again.

Can't believe Douglas signed with AL...and probably could have gone anywhere:thumbdown:

His parents are going to get a lot of grief.

What were the nature of Douglas' "personal reasons" for leaving UT?

Rivals only lists offers from a few schools, and I can understand 'bama since it's close to home, but jeez.

If what I read about his personal problems is correct, it's good that he went to AZ to 'dry out' and that he's now close to home and under a wing Dooley trusts with Saban. All of that is good if you ask me. Of course none of that has anything to to do with football, but ther are bigger things than football, sometimes.

Wow, when it rains it pours. What an ugly game of basketball. Lack of team trust on defensive boards - two Vols fighting for rebounds again and again - leading to offensive boards for the 49ers... need to work on communication. Hopson showed up late this game... too little too late... but better than the near no-show last game.

Yeah, pretty sad. 2 losses to mid majors in 4 days. Don't know what's wrong with us:(

I agree that's what's best for Douglas is a good thing but the guy could have gone just about anywhere (I thought Oregon would have been a good choice)...I can't help but think going to AL was to spite his parents.

There seems to be some interest in our O & D coordinators. I'd just like to see the same coaching staff for a _two_ years. If Wilcox goes to Texas, it would be cool if Lance Thompson got the bump to DC... and maybe Al Wilson to LB coach.

I agree, SOME continuity would be nice. I was thinking Peter Sirmon might make a nice LB coach. Well see what happens.

Hope BB season doesn't go into outright free fall tonight:rolleyes:

It didn't, but just barely. The players and coach need to take a break and clear there heads... there are only two games before Memphis in early '11.

All I want for Christmas: A consistent Hopson, more playing time for Mcrae and Golden (and less S.Pearl and McBee), and more assists from Goins. Oh, and a partridge in a pear tree. :D

Missed extra point, didn't get a first down and run out the clock with 1:30 left, Official said "game over", wait a minute...we'll reward NC for having 15 or 16 men on the field and give them that second:rolleyes:

I've never thought we won 2 times in a season and then lost.

..also never seen a player penalized for taking his helmet off after the game was over...and I can think of a couple of recent examples:rolleyes:

...the Vols are now 6 - 2 in games they won this year.

They really need to stop playing the THP commercial that quotes Dooley saying "an easy way to loose is making a critical mistake late in the game".

From the NCAA rules, section FR-77: "While in the process of substitution or simulated substitution, Team A is prohibited from rushing quickly to the line of scrimmage with the obvious attempt of creating a defensive disadvantage. If the ball is ready for play, the game officials will not permit the ball to be snapped until Team B has placed substitutes in position and replaced players have left the field of play. Team B must react promptly with its substitutes."

I believe Dooley harped on this rule during and after the LSU game. Tennessee was not given time to substitute on the last play of regulation in the LSU or UNC game - obviously our personnel would be different on a "passing play" (spiked ball) than on a field goal attempt. The umpire should have prevented UNC from snapping the ball, and the clock should have ran out. The game should have been over. Dooley after the UNC game: "It was chaos again, they run a bunch of guys on the field and nobody - the umpire doesn't jump up to stop and allow a substitution. They allow them to snap the ball and they get a penalty. That allowed them to bring their field-goal team on and kick it with one second. I don't know what else to say." Of course, I (and Dooley, JD) could be wrong, and I'd like to hear an NCAA official explain this.

Article 3: " The game is ended and the score is final when the referee so declares."

Tim Brando (CBS Sports) on Twitter: "the Referee officially called it OVER! Replay booth can take control of a play, but he can't overturn the game called over!" ... "The college game is losing credibility at every turn on every issue, and frankly after the officiating at the Music City Bowl it's deserved."

:strooper: Once again, we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Was it just me, or was the camera too "zoomed in" on almost every play? Seriously annoying, can't see what's happening on the field.

Hilarious is at least entertaining. The GT-AF game was less entertaining than watching paint dry. At least GT managed to lose the game in the closing minutes. ;)

I suppose I am the only one who found the entire incident hillarious. :D

You're not alone but my adjective of choice would have been stupidious. I'd be curious to see what the talking heads have to say about the ref's blunders.

BTW, in all fairness, my allegiances lie with Nebraska (choke city and played like anal extrusion) and Texas Tech (got 'er done).

Actually it was an incredible game. Amazing to watch the triple option run the way it should be (where passing is actually an option).
