The Wireless Wave Driver is Coming

That would be cool for a day or two, but I am glad they did it this way so that there is nothing else to buy or fool with. Very good wireless design IMO.

I just hope the firmware is updateable via computer some how so we do not have to send it back if there is an issue like the old driver.

I never thought about that. It would be nice to be able to add new programs and whatnot.

Yea I read that but this has to be attached to the powerhead from what I can tell. In a way it is wireless, but only in conjunction with the other slave devices. Don't get me wrong, it's great and a great price but I thought it was going to be a remote type deal that I could sit on the couch and blast the fish 6' across the tank :)

I think Ecotech did us all a favour incorporating the controller into the driver. One less piece of equipment to buy. A stand alone controller with a display would have cost much more and besides, for me it would have just been expensive eye candy. I commend you Ecotech on your new design. Very well thought out.

BTW is the box aluminum or plastic?

Some of you with multiple pumps might want to hang on to at least one of the old drivers in case one of the new drivers goes down. My tank went with just one vortech for a week because the driver died on the other one. At least now I will have a backup should it happen again.

I have an in-wall tank and would have preferred a remote wireless controller. It would have been nice to be able to control and monitor these pumps from the viewing side of my tank. I purchased these pumps because they are ideal for an in-wall reeftank installation AND they promoted the controller as being "wireless".

EcoTech's famous Vortech Wave video from MACNA showed how far away you could be from the pumps while still maintaining control.

KEstep, Yes I agree. Having backup parts for these pumps is a good idea.

That does make sense. I'd still like a seperate one as an option with more advanced controlling. It would be nice to say, pump 1 only goes 80% max ever, pump 2 goes 50%, etc. And then set the interval on how it ramps up and down. But I think for simplicity and the cost, you can't beat it for sure. They could of charged 150.00 and no one would of probably complained.

Someone said the shipping prices dropped again this morning however when I checked, they went back up some. Glad I bought it yesterday.

AS does not return phone calls or emails very disturbing....

Come on now.

also yes the Wireless claim was misleading unless you plan on a battery powered wireless controller to compliment these new drivers.

also i need to sell my tunze :)

Aquarium Specialty is on vacation! Give the poor guy a break. However, he's still working about three hours a day while on vacation. I don't think you can get much better than that.

Gentlemen-

The pre-order sold faster than we could have ever imagined and we have reached capacity. We will notify everyone when the next round of Wireless Wave Drivers are available, however there is no planned time table yet

For now our 100% attention is going toward the customers which have already pre-ordered.

Thanks Tim. I worked until 1:00 AM last night responding to emails. Today we returned some phone calls from yesterday and took a couple of new ones. We will be back in the office tomorrow afternoon.

Just to add a note...

When we do open up another round of Wireless Wave Driver exchange sales, we will notify everyone IN ADVANCE of when we open it up, and we will notify everyone how many drivers we will be opening up. If there is one complaint that we've heard the most it is that we released to little information about this offer. Therefor, don't worry if you missed the boat on this initial pre-sale. You will have a second opportunity with more warning and more information.

Tim, is it safe to assume those who purchased them two days ago were in on time to receive first shipment?

While I still hope a controller that allows more functionality like switching modes is on the table( I still thick having the ability to surge every hour or so would be awesome!) what is being released will meet most of my needs. Can't wait to try it out. I'll have to compete with Fliger to see who can come up with the most radical flow in Az. Glad I got in under the wire with my 3.

Anyone who has already purchased is in on the first shipment. The purchase option has been removed from the Aquarium Specialty page since we closed the round.

A lot of good points being made about the idea of the controller and driver built into the same unit. I would guess this is an advantage for small tank owners and and opportunity to upsell large tank owners with an add-on wireless control center.

My biggest issue is taking advantage of the sensor technology built into the Vortech by having feedback from the pumps. We know that they can sense internal heat and adjust speed to cool down, we know tha they can sense a separation and shut down, and I am guessing a whole lot more.

I would like to be able to have cumulative data to understand what is happening throughout my tank's daily routine, as well as some alarm system for out-of-state situations like stalls/separation, etc. I hate to join you guys in leading Eco-Tech down the path to endless add-ons, but when I initially purchased the Vortechs, I was under the distinct impression that they would run on the Neptune system. This would at least have offered me some feedback and programming control, and the ability to log in and "see" what is happening with my system.

When I get home after a day away, and find a stalled pump, I have no idea how long it was down. Currently my Neptune system will email me if there is an alarm condition for other system components/probes, as well as start and audible alarm in my house. When there is a leak, I am notified. When the temp. is too high, I am notified. If anything I have programmed to do so, goes out-of-state, I am notified. And this is one of the primary reasons why I spent the coin on the ACIII Pro.

With all of its components, I have more than $2500 into the Neptune system, and with my next two pumps purchases, I will have about $2,800 into the Vortech line. So for me, some kind of cross-communication module, or software based feedback system for the Vortechs would bring me full circle, back to my original expectations of advanced control and feedback. Hope that makes sense to others. :)

Tim,

Do the early adopters still receive the 1 Year extended warranty? It hasn't been mentioned in any EcoTech posts.

I asked the same question many days ago.....................

Yes, we will provide a one year limited warranty to those that have already purchased the Wireless Wave Driver exchange and to the second round of exchange deals.
