EcoTech Marine = Microsoft!!!

Now that wasn't very nice at all!

How quickly has MS ever resolved a problem for you? I rest my case. :D

No kidding. Microsoft sucks when it comes to help and they charge you for it every time AND they make sh*tty products from the get go. I cannot see this comparison between the two at all.

I want this just as much as anyone else, but man oh man what a bunch of whiners. Let EchoTech get their product out the way they need to, receive feedback, and fine tune the system/process.
Imagine the aftermath of fulfilling every order, and having to replace units - further delaying distribution.

Anyone here actually run a business and know what kind of work/planning goes into this? Perhaps the system could be improved, sure. I certainly wish I was on some list. But guess what - I wasn't. Get over it. Move on. Get in on the next round. Make suggestions (like locked a thread). But stop crying. It's pathetic.

Now you've done it, ruined my niche. I was just getting ready to sell cheese on this thread. :D

Everyone, our work is done. We were able to make someone post for the first time on RC over people whining. Welcome to RC TK3, I'm glad some of us could help you contribute.

LOL! I was thinking the same thing. I have been watching Tim respond to some posts and has really kept the herd backed up very good. The positive side to all of this is that Ecotech must be feeling very proud that their product is taking off so well with high demand.

That should indicate how annoying it is to sift through page after page of absolutle nonsense. I think many people here are looking for controller information, a second run release date, and a forum to provide Ecotech with feedback so they can better serve customers.

If you (or anyone else) is unsatisfied with the company or the way they decide to operate - don't buy their products. Clearly enough people like what they're offering or the first run wouldn't have sold out as fast as it did.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting one. My experience with them has been tremendous.

Ecotech: Something to do that would answer questions (including my own). Any chance of adding the manual to the Support section of your site? Perhaps post the URL on RC if you guys don't want it linked from the main site just yet?

I'm with you, I was just poking fun. I had ordered three controllers and now I've ordered four pumps so I need another controller. Hopefully they'll release that info soon so I could be prepared.

oops, too late. Would have been nice to get that to make up for getting burned on the shipped of wireless drivers.

I think we'll likely have it up on the web once the first drivers start shipping.

After sifting through all of this and taking a couple of days to process it I had a couple of questions.

I read how the drivers will synch up and one will become the master and one the slave, but in reading it I was struck that this colution is really only valid for smaller tanks. Those with larger layouts and/or more complex Vortec placement designs really won't benefit from most of these features (IE: pumps on backwall as well as side walls). The random one might prove beneficial though. Would my assessment be accurate that this soution is only really intended for the smaller tanks ? and that possibly the "full blown wireless controller" will be the answer for those of us with larger tanks ?

I did not see if there was a way to disable the communication between the pumps, IE: if you wanted 2 to use the "random" pattern and a 3rd one to pulse. From how I read the original post that would not be possible if all of the drivers "connected" to each other. Did I mis-read something ?

EDIT : I found my own answer by more carefully re-reading the original post : Multiple master pumps can be set up on different wireless frequencies for infinite wave control possibilities. But this brings up another question : How many frequency/wireless pump "networks" can we have ?

I know that you mentioned not wanting to talk about the functionality of the new drivers, but that is of course the focal point for most of us and the reason that we bought Vortecs in the first place :). I would hope that we don't have to wait until next Tuesday to hear back from the users on the actual features nad what it can and cannot do. Throw us a bone here :). I would love to hear how it will handle a stall, for example. We still periodically have ours stall (but then again any in-tank powerhead will). I just wanted to know how the new driver will handle that. Typically unplugging and plugging the driver back in clears the stall.. would the driver be able to detect and affect that "cycle" itself maybe ?

Last question about the driver itself : Will any of the features that were dicussed previously, but did not appear to make it to this release, be included in updates ? Or included in the wireless controller ? and on that note, is the wireless controller still on the agenda for a 2007 release ?

EDIT : IE: night mode, pump monitoring for stalls, true random (surges, then pulse, then tidal, etc). Also the topic of programming in our own wave patterns was discussed at length some time ago, is that a dead topic now ?

And about release date/shipping, why was Sept 1 chosen ? Being a Saturday FedEx charges extra for Saturday pickup, and other than overnight servcies they typically don't leave their wearhouses until the next business day (in this case that would be the following Tuesday). Being a holiday weekend it just adds days to the delivery time unless a premium is paid, and even that won't get the drivers to anyone prior to Tuesday. So I was just curious as to why that day/date was selected, since it seems to delay the delivery and also add in an additional charge ? Hopefully the typical premium that FedEx charges for Saturday pickup will be waived, but that also may explain the higher than expected shipping fees ?

I hope that we can make it onto the 2nd round of the new drivers, like others I am perplexed as to why the only notification was this thread, but I am sure that they had their reasons. And I am not trying to be negative at all, just trying to understand all of the facets of the new drivers. We have 4 pumps, and I am considering a 5th, so please don't misunderstand the tone of my post or questions :)
