THEN........ and ...........NOW

JMCAquarium

They are among us!!
In light of the threads that I have been reading as of late.

I would like to see some Then and now pics of people's personal tanks from the first time they set one up to now.

I am expecting a few of you elder reefers to partake in this one and also I would like to see PROPS humble beginings to.

I will post mine this weekend 7 years of reef keeping has brought me a long way. And I still ave the same TANK!!

Even those still no longer in the hobby I would like to see your Then and now.

I wish I had pictures of my old ones. I had reef tanks back around 1985. Nothing like I have now though. Low light corals, etc. I had a 55 gallon for a long time that just had 1 big yellow tang, and a perc clown that hosted in a condy anemone and that was it. Then I had a couple smaller reef tanks.

I need to find the polaroid of my 40 gallon tank back in 1976 with a picasso trigger and an undergravel filter. I still have some of those dead corals I used for decorations in a box in my garage!

There was a store down on 35th ave and Bethany called (It think) 'The Coral Reef' and I would beg my folks to take me there...

First tank in Nashville 10 years ago. It was a regular glass tank with Siphon overflow and a homemade rubbermade sump

Here is the 90 after I moved out of the 20.
OP asked about PROP's humble beginnings, well this is it. One of the very first PROP coral's was the Randy O's Echno you can (barely) see in the right hand corner on the bottom...

^^^ you can see "Todd's Torch" and my green with purple rim cap in that pic, I'm desperate for either of those if anyone in the valley still has them!

After that tank was broken down, I was out for a few years, moved to a new house and built this 58 (pic is shortly after it started, not sure where some fuller grown ones are):

And lastly, it was upgrade time to the current reef.

this pic as about 2 months old, I wanted to do shots this weekend but my wife the camera in Canada :(

and just for fun... if you look at the pic of the 58 you can see the green milli frag from Tiff, which now is a bit bigger than this:

Funny to scroll back thru these old threads and see the names of people who have come and gone over the years. Sure is crazy the turn over in this hobby.
