My clownfish finally figured out how to make the eggs hatch"¦.or maybe the tank temp got a lil' high the last couple of days"¦.don"˜t know. This is the first time I've seen it happen"¦.the eggs hatched and now I've got 1000's of them. Till today they've been eating the eggs about the 2nd week. I never prepared a live rotifer culture to support this swarm. So now what????? Will they eat frozen cyclopeeze? "¦Maybe too big for them? I would anticipate from this point on I'll get a new batch of babies every 2-3 weeks. She's already pregnant and I would guess about next week I'll get another batch. So if I can't keep them"¦perhaps I can feed them to something. Will a mandarin eat these?

At the moment I would anticipate the micron filter sock to get pretty nasty in a couple of days with all the dead frys.

It is an amazing sight to see folks"¦soooo many of them.. The corals are eating what they can catch; tentacles are all out in full swing"¦.it's crazy"¦.
"¦Any alternative suggestions on what to do with these guys?

My fiance wants to name each of them ...:debi:

Here's a video I just shot"¦.

Wow that is pretty awesome, are you going to try and raise the fry? Will you be separating them to another tank?

If you do want to keep them then you have to remove them from the display tank and put them into completely dark tank. And by dark, I mean you have to put electrical tape around the heater so the light doesn't shine through. They can't survive in the same tank as the parents. I'm sure you know about feeding since you mentioned rotifers.

That is a great video.. and one fat Occy clown, i bet you see eggs again soon. I wouldnt worry about this batch..

raising them is a fairly serious undertaking -- best advice is to get the clownfish book by Joyce Wilkerson.

Clownfishes by Wilkerson, The Complete Illustrated Breeder's Guide to Marine Aquarium Fishes by Matt Wittenrich is another good book that focuses on many species.

Frozen Cyclopeeze is too large for the fry. Some people have had a little success with feeding Otohime from the beginning, but you won't get more than a few through. Your best bet is to go with rotifers and then move on to brine shrimp, Otohime (or other crushed pellet), and some very small frozen food.

I go over some basics of clownfish breeding here. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1893463

Awesome vid, I don't think I've ever seen them actually hatch in someone's tank before unless they were pulled just before and placed in a breeder tank.
Mine spawn every two weeks, never seen fry swimming about, maybe happens at night like your vid?
I agree, online rotifers may be best, but you would have to be quick on that, and get them in a seperate tank.

Clown eggs hatch after the lights go out. My ocellaris pair's eggs hatch about an hour after the lights go out.

Its the mosy wonderful feeling seeing your grandifhs hatch...lol. I saw a batch of mine hatch a couple months ago. So very cool...until my clowns started eating their kids! Hah!

Cool stuff. As others said... coral/fish food. if you want to try your hand later, get Wilkerson's book.

o wow thats amazing, ive been trying to get my clowns to mate, might be to young still.

good lucky hopefully everything works out
