There was an itsey bitsy teeny.... Bandit

No. 2 inches. I like working with small angels, for a number of reasons, and have had good luck in the past.

Check the overflows. I had a Naso I had given up for dead after conducting an extensive search of the tank including the overflows, and 7 months later I found it alive and well in the overflow.

Hope he turns up.

That's a pretty good idea!

Had our super male Flame Wrasse go missing...

Not in the tank, not in the sump, not on the floor, opened the drains and nothing.

Thought he was a goner... had to run to the airport and was in a terrible mood.

Got home and took a very strong light to the overflow and saw a hint of red. Ended up being him...

Thought it was far too tight for him to get in, but sure enough he found a way and I had to make sure adjustments...

Got him out and he was fine...

No flaming here. I never put angels in a Q tank. Just be prepared for the worse. The way I see it the stress of a small tank and then moving them again is just as bad

What size is yours again?

Was thinking about doing a 3-4"...

Mine was just under 4". RDtrack if you give it another go in the future check out SaltyAquaria, Adrian has some the size you got maybe a little larger for 1600$ with 14 day guarantee. Rufus catches the fish that Adrian sells so it's a win win

I was going to go that route but my LFS beat me to the punch.

I can't agree with you more. Funny thing is I had discussions with Adrian before the my LFS came through.

I will definitely consider use him/them.

I agree with you too a point. I believe small or juvenile angels do better in a DT because of the natural food source available. Also one of the other reasons I like small or juvenile angels you can somewhat teach them to eat other foods than corals.

However larger angels maybe 2 inches and larger do better in a Qt. It allows them in my mind to learn to feed from the water column. Also there is no competition for them to learn how to eat either. Expecially important with Regals.

In my opinion there is not enough natural food (live rock) to sustain them if theyes are 2 inches or greater in size.

Also I believe the probability of them have flukes is greater as their size increases. Thus you can easily treat them.

I'm by no means an expert at keeping angels but this has been my experience.

Any luck checking the overflows or sumps? I think on a fish that small/special I'd be be looking all over the place.

Trust me I've checked and rechecked every place that she could be beside tearing my rock work up (which I'll be doing in a few weeks).

She's not just or was not just another angel.

Your right especially abut the fluikes I've just had bad experience with Qing them. I find the live rocks gels them recover enough that they start eating. Sorry to hear he did not make it

Don't loose hope just yet. A few years back I experienced a tank crash due to velvet. Thought everything was gone. I did a 50% water change and left the lights off for three weeks. Just feeding once a day for inverts. One day I turned my lights on, and out pops my 1" juvi flagfin. Happy as can be. Absolutely amazed me.

I don't blame you for not QT'ing. Angels, no matter the price, at that size always make me nervous.

Here's a thought: if you have the space, why not set up a second, strictly observational QT? One of my buddies did it with a 30g. He kept common corals in it like mushrooms, GSP, cheap zoas, Xenia etc. It provides a more natural introduction for the fish, allows you to better monitor in a more confined space, juvi fish have time to learn how to eat and grow, and doesn't look half bad vs. a traditional QT. His GSP actually grew over the entire back wall of the tank. Ended up being a pretty neat looking tank on its own.

Once he felt they were strong enough, he'd move them to his other quarantine and begin medication. Granted we didn't share the same taste in fish, but he had great success with small Angels. I'll probably go this route with my 40b QT.

so sorry, hope she turns up...they can be so tough to get eating when small...def recommend qt every fish, especially babies, easier to target feed, observe, and keep track of, there is nothing worse than adding a baby to a dt, having it die, and then infecting everything in a dt...

Sorry to hear. I observe for a QT method with live rock in there to allow for picking too. I have a25g plumbed with a 128g. So the small, more delicate fish go into the 25g. I feed like crazy. Once comfortable and eating well, I put them into the bigger QT or they go into the DT. I only prazipro my fish. If I see an issue, I have a seperate 30g, I can set up to Copper any fish.

Rdtrack, the juvenile bandeds are just starting to show up. Let Adrian know if you want to give it another try. Other sizes are avaliable as well.
