things I really hate doing...

capn: I also have 28" high tank. I'm only 5'5" and my arm is not long enough to reach the bottom with the canopy on. I need to take it off before I can put my entire arm to move something. That is one thing I would change...PITA
I have a question for you, did you have trouble with the aquascaping because of the height?

no I built the reef towards the back--there is just enough swimming room between the glass and that. It also helps for corals that like alot of light--just place them high on the reef
My next tank will be a 220 gal loooong ==that's for sure

I like looking at my tanks and thinking "I created that"

I like doing waterchanges knowing the corals will look better the next day.

I like cleaning the glass knowing the tank will look better.

I like my valonia, it's a natural life form in my tank.

I enjoy testing water knowing it might help me improve the environment for my corals/fish.

The anticipation while researching new additions is a thrill I don't want to pass up.

The sacrifices made to provide the optimal environment for the animals entrusted to my care are insignificant in the greater scope of things.

ah come on Agu---your not playing fair:lol: the title of the thread was things you disliked doing----I know its a little negative--but sometimes it feels good to vent:rollface:

I hate:
-having my tank on the 2nd floor
-not having enough room for a bigger sump
-changing filter socks
-maintaining a cannister (I'm fixing that one soon)
-mixing salt in my kitchen, and letting the buckets sit for 24-48 hrs

I hate reef envy! Naw....not really. You know what I am talking about. Seeing all those absolutely breathtaking aquariums here, and then wondering if yours will ever match up, and if you will ever finesse those husbandry skills to allow your inhabitants to flourish.

I hate that I did not spend the time and money to get the size of tank that I really wanted and settled for less.

But. I must admit to enjoying much of what sk8r stated......yeah........NEWBIE!!!!!

I agree with you except on this one. I despise valonia.
And I hate not having room for a 300+ tank.

I hate turning snails back over when they fall
I hate Phosphates
I hate how when you test calcium you have to add one drop at a time and than shake!!!!

I'll tell you a secret --you don't have to add one drop at a time----I have a pretty good idea where my levels are because they are really stable---so alot of times I will just use the syringe and add it about 3/4 off where it usually goes to before the colour change

I add the first 15 drops, then shake, then start counting (AP test). Should the test need less than 15 drops, I know my problems are larger than losing count :)

When filling buckets with RO water, I use a kitchen timer, so I don't forget to stop the water. I hate cleaning up floods!

I have the same problem with having a tank longer than my arm, and having to stand on a step stool. If I have to do work at the bottom of the tank, I not only get wet T-shirt sleeves, but also lovely bruises on my upper arms because of the lip on the tank. The bottom three inches of my tank have terrible coraline, because I just can't reach well enough and the long-handled scrapers aren't very good. :) I hate being short!

Ugh, another hate being short vote here. My last tank (FW) was a hex tall that discouraged me from the hobby for years afterwards. It's still in the attic and is begging me to turn it into a seahorse/fuge tank. I just want to shoot it and watch the glass fly!

I hate not being able to buy everything I want all at once!

I hate that I know very well my tank is not ready for a mandarin or a clam. My LFS hates that I put nose prints on their tanks as I stare and slobber at stuff.

I hate people admiring bubble algae and "sea grass" (hair algae).
