That guy who wouldn't go lower on those true steve tyree watermelon echinos. $250 for a less than half inch frag that didn't have any eyes?!!!! I wanted that so badly but his price was way too high especially for a frag convention. And he said he was the one who supplied it to Steve Tyree and I told them that Atlantis was selling them for $150 a while back and he said that they were lying because Ming still wanted to buy a frag from him. Anyway, that guy irks me and his tank isn't even that nice.

Thats Ron from Reef Tec. And he is the one where the watermelon originated from. I think his price dictates who much in demand that coral is. Plus it is the original pink watermelon. Not the red or the bazooka joe.

I saw some guy that was sharing a booth with pookstreet, I don't know what has name is or what his name on RC is, but he had some watermelons. I think they were the Red ones. He wanted $120, and they where maybe half the size of Rons.
 
Being a friend of vendors helping out that day and a reefer looking for those rare coral. I could understand both side. What bothered be was that some of the vendors raised they price by as much as 20% and some even more then that. Needless to say I walked away spending very little.

I only got 1 of 4 corals frags I got and only because it was a cheapest then any other vendor and a 2 times as large.

There where some very good nices coral and price also from some vendor which got my business.
 
did anyone see the red/green echino's(maybe watermelon?) for $40/$50 at one of the booths? i really regret not picking them up now, the color on them were amazing. =/
 
Justin I will buy some xenia once I set this other tank up. Sam told me what happened that really sucks. I have a plan for you next time LMAO


O I wanted all of these cloves from Vivid but I didn't dare ask how much :eek:

If I knew I would have pulled out the rock I had and sold it to you. It's about a 3-5lb rock 8" wide. I had it for $40. I did see you though wearing the yellow top.

Yeah I know but it was weird when he said that atlantis was lying about having true LE tyree watermelons a while back. He was ok I'm just bummed that I didn't have the cash for it. Also I offered him $225 for tge larger of the two frags he had at the time and he said no and I checked his website and he is selling them for $225. I thought the purpose of the RAP was to offer corals at lower prices. I don't mean to insult the guy, I just don't understand why he didn't want to sell the larger piece (1/2"x3/4") for $225 at the end.

Cloves from Vivid were only like 25-35 bucks from what I remember. Wasn't THAT outrageous.

The cloves I wanted where 40- 60 bucks no thanks lol

Yeah I will be getting some blues from Richard later so I will just wait. It I look more at the shape of the polyps more than color. Color is nice but the shape lets me know if its a different type I don't have. At vivid they had some cloves that where HUGE and then some that looked like palm trees . Then they had the blues.

4 months of reefkeeping and then RAP, I wish I knew more about exotic corals and their prices so I could have found a bargain for my collection, or have the energy to stay till 7 to find last minute deals. But the best was seeing my friends that got me into the hobby, and meeting stryder,sps-addict, henry and the guy whos avitar shows him drinking a beer, and Gabe.
I recognized you roxy from your pics, but i did not get to meet you.
I came away with clams , salt , and a 29g oceanic.
oh and a free acro frag that came with the clam. I always want more when it comes to reefing. I cant forget the vendors there were some good guys there.
 
Justin what size shoe are you, I have an extra crispy pair of XI's lying around;)

Are you serious about growing blue Xenia? Since your tank is killer for growing xenia I can start you off. lmk.
