mkay so here i am in walmart
checking out power heads and heaters etc etc .. than i see this lil guy
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3635550#Features+&+Specifications

low and behold, theres a 12inch t5 lamp in there, wondering if this guy has enough filtartion power ( has one of those bio wheels ) + a filterfloss media i think. i planned on putting in a 12inch corallife t5 bulb , either a 50/50 or a 10k ... mainly just gonna put some shrooms / zoas in it and a small fish.. any reason this wouldnt work? 5 pounds of live rock or so. any reason this wouldnt work or some special needs i havent listed? ( this is my first thoughts / plans of a nano )...

If I'm not mistaken the Eclipse 6 comes with a 8-9w Normal Output Fluorescent bulb which wouldn't support corals, not even Mushrooms. You would either need to install a PC retrofit kit into the existing hood or try and find a light fixture that would fit over the tank. You won't need extreme amount of light if you are planning on keeping Mushrooms and Zoas.

As for a stock filter tank comes with the Eclipse it really isn't needed and could cause problems with water quality if not maintained properly. With any media you use it is important that you rinse out the media as well as the filter at least every week to remove any detritus. If you decide to keep the filter the only media I would use is carbon and phosphate removers. You will also need 1-2 small powerheads which I recommend Micro-Jets or Mini-Jets to do the job.

A 6 gallon is a small tank so when it comes to housing a fish you need to choose one that will live comfortably. I would recommend researching small Gobies such as Trimma, Clown, Masked, Red Stripe, Greenbanded, Neon, etc. They all stay fairly small and are hardy once feeding.

Good luck with tank and if you have any more questions just ask.
