Thinking about the Canon S90 - Suggestions?

Hello! :wavehand: Any camera experts out here that can help me out?

I'm looking to get a new P&S camera for myself this holiday season and had my eye on a 5 models - some big some not so big. Specifically, the Nikon P90, Panasonic FZ35, Sony DSC-HX1, Canon G11, and the Canon S90.

I don't mind size so much, since I'm used to carrying around a large camera (Rebel XT), I just want something with image stabilization - something that I have yet to experience. My last "widely" used pocket sized P&S was a Canon S230, so I'm kind of outdated. I would mainly use this camera for outdoor shots, landscapes, portraits and most importantly for macro photographs. I would prefer to have a camera with above average macro capabilities with the ease and versatility of a P&S camera.

I understand that neither of these cameras have HD video which IMO is not important since I rarely take videos. The price is negligible to me (as long as it's below $400-$500. :lol2:

So far, my research has allowed me to narrow it down to either the G11 or S90. I know there are pros and cons (size/weight, hotshoe, view finder, tiltable LCD, etc). Since the S90 is more portable, I'm leaning towards getting the smaller camera, but am I overlooking anything that the G11 can offer that trumps the S90 in the long run? I already have a DSLR (Rebel XT sadly without image stabilization), I just want something powerful enough to take with me outside without feeling like I'm carrying a brick with me.

Any reefers out there with a S90 or G11 that can chime in and help me with my decision? Thank you!

Both are good cameras and will produce good results. Both shoot RAW, which is really helpful for shooting under typical aquarium lighting.

The G11 (or 10) has controls that are better suited for manual operation which is why I general recommend it but if that's of no concern I'd say save a couple bucks and get the S90.
