Ok I'll tell you guys a little about the set up. Its a;
65g (36 x 18 x 24high)
2 x 250watt Hamilton 14k's.
Dripping Kalk.
Very Low SPS load mainly zoos/softies/LPS
Shallow sandbed about 1inch

I want to start of with the easiest clam possible. What would it be? Is my set up suitable for clams?

With the correct lighting they are all easy IMO...and I would say you have the correct lighting. () : )
Babies of any species are more difficult than one over 3 or 4 inches though.
And of cuarse a gigas would grow out of your tank () : )
For any clams your gonna have to keep up with the increased CA/Alk demand.

My clams are doing fine under Phoenix 14K, but I don't know how the Hamiltons are in comparison.

Well Sanjay's site says they are a little lower..but you should probably be fine for any clam.
You say your a tort addict so anywhere a tort will grow so will a maxima or crocea. The other kinds won't need as much light.

Definately looking at a clam in the 4-5 inch range to start off safe. Dont want to have to feed it constantly. Thanks grimmjohn.

Go with a Deresa they are less light demanding and should do fine. You should place the Deresa on the sand bed as directly under the MH as you can. You will be okay with Crocea and Maxima under your lighting as well, but they should be placed higher up on the rocks.
