thinking of getting a mantis tank ?'s

I've got a 55gal display right now that is turning into a mixed reef tank. I built the stand with about a foot and a half shelf on one side, thinking of keeping food and other supplies there. Now, I'm kind of thinking of putting a small tank there for a mantis. Is a 18" wide tank too small for a peacock? I've had an interest in mantis shrimps for a long time, but never really thought of owning one. I've been perusing this part of RC for some time now, and the interest has grown.
I'd plumb the small tank into my existing to help cut down on equipment that I would have to get.

yes 18" is too small for a peacock. you need a min of 24" long, and height doesnt matter. they need a nice size foot print to roam around in to be happy. there are plenty of other species you can get with a tank that small.
