It's that time again. The Middle Tennessee Reef Club is planning our third annual frag swap in Nashville, Tn. on January 20th from 12:00-4:00. There will a table charge this year of $25 per whole table or $15 for half a table, plus we will be giving 5 raffle tickets for each table order (3 for each half table). We would like for interested club BOD members to contact us via PM to arrange for tables for those who only have a few frags to trade/sell. The reason for the table charge this year is due to an increase of costs for the room by almost 5X from last year.

Last year was a great success with around 200 people coming through the doors (we needed a bigger room), so we hope to make this year at least as good as last year. Please post to let us know how many to plan for this year, More information will be coming very soon.

Hope to see you all there.

It's not set in stone yet, but the hotel from last year is on our list. We haven't made a final decision yet because the cost went up so much from last year. We plan to have a final decision this week regarding the venue. Once it has been decided, I'll post a link to our thread which will contain all the info.

Hope to see you there!

How will this affect the local NARC meeting?

Since I am new to the Frag Swap would anyone be willing to school me at the swap?

We are going to the swap in lieu of our January meeting. Just find us there. We should have a table for NARC members.

I understand that the swap will be on January 20th from 12:00-4:00 at the Pleasant Green Community Center in Goodlettsville.

I am in the process of reserving a table for NARC. Please let me know if you are coming to the swap. Those of us who sell/trade frags will share the cost of the table. If you are not selling anything, you can still sit among us. We sellers need a periodic baby sitter for our frags while we take a look at someone else's frags :)

Great event but more often please!

Great event but more often please!

All the new babies are in the Q tank and look healthy.

It was interesting to watch the "feeding frenzy" and "Mad Mel's" table. After having a coral sold out from under me by some one that elbowed in, I had to take a "territorial" position.

It was better than last year! Again I was 30 minutes later than I had planned and missed some of the corals I wanted- took the wrong exit.

Great place to hold the event. How about two a year?

There have been two regional frag swaps in a year, Big Goose. One in Nashville in January and another one in Chattanooga in July. If someone organizes one in Alabama, we'll have three in a year :)

Yeah, I saw 2 corals get snaked at Greystreets table because I'm too timid and let people go in front of me quite a bit. No one was being rude, but people can definitely be more assertive than me. That's all my fault.

Some where closer than Chattanooga would be fantastic. Say.... Huntsville? Anyone wanna put that one together? :)

Yes, a swap closer would be wonderful. It took me 4 hours to get there...but it was worth it! :)

My vote would be for Birmingham b/c that would be a central and easy trip for people from N. AL, Montgomery...even Mississippi, GA, etc.

Maybe CARC could get something going? :D Summertime would be excelllllent.

Well, Gary is gonna be moving to Montgomery soon.... so maybe Bham would be a good location. I'm in the Shoals area, which is about 2 and half hours away.... the same as Nashville. I'd love something a little closer, but I won't complan because I know there are people that drove farther than I did.
:)

We've kicked around the idea of having NARC organize a regional swap. It really wouldn't be too hard. I have access to a nice school with a cafeteria with tables, just a couple miles off 1-65 in Athens. Or it could possibly even be done at WEEC in Decatur. But, one more annual swap in the region might be too much of a good thing.

That'd be fantastic location-wise for me. Although, it might work out for some of the BHAM, Tuscaloosa, Montgomery folks that wouldn't want to drive all the way to Nashville or Chattanooga.

I like seeing the gears turning:). We have a strong following in the hobby in the whole SE with access to alot of different groups. Imagine swaps every few months in different areas to draw out different corals:). They are a lot of work and don't bring in tons of profit for the club, but as long as you break even, you promote the club and propagation, as well as bringing people together.

We couldn't make it cause of the drive.. My son had a soccer game and a basketball game Saturday a few hours apart. We would have had to miss both of them to make the drive to the swap. :(

I hate to rub it in, but you missed quite a good swap! I think everyone would agree with me on that one. I can't wait for the next one... be it B-ham or otherwise!
