Common man your avatar is thrist get it wet soon j/k i will need tovisit you when its done and check out your baller sps collections

Veeeeery cool. That basement is awesome. Do you have a final vision for flow and filtration? Hydrowizards?

Are you just going to do a 25% water change weekly to take care of water quality? lol

I imagine you will eventually need a pretty large skimmer and calcium reactor?

I used to be more of a sand fan but with SPS obsession comes massive flow obsession comes hatred of sand blowing around.

I'm not quite sure on final flow yet. For now I've got 3 6105s and gyres. Will maintain that I need more flow.

I'm not much into water changes.

This is one of my sps tanks that doesn't get water changes. In fact it resides remotely and so pretty hands off. At first this tank wasn't too happy, but over time it stabilized and now practically runs itself

For me it'll just be about taking things slow.

Yes will need a decent size reactor once I start stocking up the tank.

For now it's just water recirculating

Got my light rack!

It's made of 2 60x42 sections that split in the middle.

If I need to work inside the middle of the tank, I can shift both sections away from the middle.

Normally they will sit together

It fits 3 halide pendants and whatever radions I decide to go with. The radion slots are angled to the middle

Need to figure how to manage the wires when I shift the racks

Got the overflows installs

Need to get some 1.5 inch unions

Do people use all 3 drains independently? Or join them together?

If I were you do it independently in case of power outage all that water going to 1 pipe it might over flow your over flow box

Love the light rack with the tracks and the split in the middle.

Great build so far.

Thanks....

Going very slowly.

Just ordered my multiswirls for the return. That will get me motivated to do the plumbing ;)

this build is amazing... I am extremely jealous

Very slow though. Limited budget, unfortunately not like others with big tanks who buy the best of the best and immediately. I hope to enjoy the journey and try to be as economical as possible :)

wow john... crazy

Hi Lawrence... long time no talk!!

Finally got my miltiswirls!!! Can finally plumb the tank.

Meanwhile was building a bathroom down in my basement. Rocks still cooking and water parameters stabilizing. The frag of frogskin still alive

Still trying to help pods multiply with an "œin tank" fuge for now in the orange bucket.

Now that I have my swirls, I hope to finish plumbing in the next few weeks.

Looks like it's time to update my actual build thread!! Will do a better job updating this thread going forward!

Been a busy summer, got engaged, was saving money to buy equipment. Finally things are running.

I ended up with the following for equipment:

Lighting: 4xG4 Radion pro, 4xG3 Radion pro + 3x400 watt Radium halides

Flow: 2xXF280 Gyre + 3xTunze 6105 opposite each other

Skimmer: lifereef 72" fed with jebao recirculated with blueline 100

Return: 2x DCP 8000 each into a multiswirl. There's only 1 elbow, so I'm guessing 1500-2k gph from each.

I went a bit overboard with the fish, a little worried about overcrowding but we will see

First the proposal picture
