This a good light for a 55?

Its either this fixture or a Power Compact fixture of some sort probably a 4x65 watt unit.

Could you please tell me the pluses and minuses. and which is a better light? Or if there are better option please let me know.

jasert39, it all depends on what you want to keep in your tank.

For a 55G tank T5s will work really well even if wanted to keep some of the SPS corals.

If I had to choose between PC lighting and T5s I would go with T5s - slimmer fixtures, brighter output per watts consumed, less heat transmisson into the tank.

i just purchased the nova extreme t-5 and its really a nice light doesn't really admit heat at all......the fan isn't noisy at all i have it setup in my bedroom......the white leds at night looks like there is a real moon shining down on it......be ready for the new light algea WOW what a difference that algea grows with these big lights

thats for fixing my link argo..thats the fixture that I'm looking at.

the only reason that i questioned it was that i remember reading that t-5 lights do better with their own individual reflector and the picture didnt show that in this unit...at least the way I was looking at it.

Heck, go on ebay and for $200 you can get a 4 bulb SLS T5 tek light. That will work great for a 55g.
