This is insane (prices)

This is why it's getting harder and harder,to find exotic corals.Because all these guys even Steve Tyree are using more Ebay to sell their goods."Let the feeding frenzy begin".Because, they know, there are a lot of suckers out there. So why sell a coral frag for 100 bucks, when you can get 490 bucks.
I got the same frag of the Pink Lem.It's not as big as that is.And by the way, there are more than 2 people that has this coral.I'm glad I got my frag when I did.

I admit it is a sweet coral, but I had a hard time dropping $500 for my wavebox. Guess it's all in the eyes of the beholder...

Wow. I'm not a hater, no one HAS to bid that much on a coral, its just amazing people pay those prices. I just GAVE away a colony of maybe 50-60 Tubs blue zoos. I also have that neon green toadstool, it looks like the last one that sold was $202, that is insane. Although I did pay $100 for the "war coral" frag, I thought that was worth it and still do. Neat piece, I have no idea what those have gone for.

There are obviously some hard to find corals they have, but IMO there are tons of reefers that post regularly in this forum that I'd rather buy from.

Also, whats pretty sad is the way this hobby is starting to get. It's all about the money now a days.
I had asked for a frag of it months ago, was told too busy at the time, then after the price was going up on a frag on ebay, I was told a much higher price for a frag than what it would have cost a couple months back.
So I had to pass on the frag, just not willing to spend those big bucks. The coral will drop in price like all the others.

The answer is simple.

Its all a matter of supply and demand. The more reefers that obtain and grow these premium corals and then share/trade/sell so that other reefers can grow them will increase the supply and keep these nicer corals affordable.

Keep in mind that this coral (and most of the other super-premiums) are extremely rare because only a few of the colonies exist. According to the statement posted on e-bay, most of the other colonies have been lost.

This differentiates this piece from lets say the Acan feeding frenzy that was (and to a certain extent--still going on) when in fact Acans were never particularly rare in the wild. They were simply not being collected very much as this lack of supply led to the enormous spike in prices that is just now abating.

That's funny for you to get a frag of it free. What a good score for sure.Again that shows these frags are floating around now for awhile now.Not saying there aren't a lot of them out there? So you have to wonder how many already have been passed out, before the Ebay post? Now the Ebay post just sent the frag threw the roof now.And yes the ones that do have, just raised their price also.

That guy is making a killing off of ebay. I still find it funny people spend a ton on little frags. I mean they are nice but I'm sure there are many people who have corals that very few have. And then you have to think of how many people really do have it but don't go online or just don't care. I buy some of the nicer stuff but I couldn't honestly spend over 60 dollars for a frag and then it better be super nice. I don't care about the label if it is super nice.

Yeah, I saw those today and was amazed at the prices. I bid on his GARF purple bonsai and was sniped by someone with 7 seconds left. Oh well.

Tony, no yours is an imposter! here is the real thing!!!

I've had mine for about 5 months not totally sure how long though....

You can imagine what they're saying on the other end of the spectrum "These hobbyist are driving the price down by just giving this stuff away.." To each their own, maybe not everyone has the opportunity to know someone to get frags like these. Ebay's a national, if not world market. Some of you do it for fun, while others do it for profit, but it's money that makes the world turn so...think about it..:)
