Hey everyone, I just picked up my pair of Claire fairy wrasses! They were recently collected by Rufus during his latest expedition in Tahiti. Here's a pic and video of the right after they were collected:

Here's what they were really going for:

And here's video of the larger of the two looking a bit stressed in my acclimation/conditioning/qt tank:

Wow thats pretty awesome!

So to collect fish like this in the wild, do you have to have some type of license?

Oh my!! Beautiful fish, good luck, be sure to post pics when they're in that awesome tank of yours

Will do and thank you! Here's a quick video of them eating a bit today:

I think the toughest part is getting them acclimated to my bright reef lights. I'm sure as deep water fairy wrasses, they're not used to such bright lights.

I don't know all the logistics for the entire process, but as long as they're not illegal to collect I don't think you need a license to actually collect them. But I think you need a license to import/export and sell the fish.

However I know for a fact that the license process is much easier compared to the skills, knowledge, logistics and brass balls needed to collect these deepwater fish!

Congrats Wayne. We had the trio here in NJ and I did not pull the trigger but they are amazing. I will just have to take my consolation prize of the feminus I just got. Good luck.
