Thoughts on acro care, for AEFW study tank

tektite

I never finish anyth
I'm starting a tank for acros, specifically to keep a population of AEFW. I'll be studying them, they've caught my curiosity.

Just looking for some advice here on keeping the acros. I have a reef with many SPS so I'm familiar with SPS care, so I'm looking beyond the nominal items like steady parameters, good light, etc...what are some other things I can do to help keep the acros healthy (don't need good growth or color). Given that they will deliberately have AEFW, I need to keep them as healthy as possible so they can survive longterm. I'll keep the AEFW population in check, but they will still be a stress to the corals.

Thoughts?

Are you being specific on how to care for ACROS? Do you have acropora in your tank now, or just SPS corals?

I have plenty of acros in my tank now, I'm familiar with their care.

Basically just asking for other ideas on how to keep them healthy while they have an active AEFW population living on them. Little tips and tricks that might improve their successful living, etc. Definitely looking for advanced level ideas.

Blast your corals every 3 days and you will keep them in check.

I've been doing it for years with just basting and if something gets out of control and it can handle a dip then dip it. It's very unlikely you'll be able to get them all with a singe round of dips so I wouldn't be to worried. I would also try to go for "tasty" species. They tent to really go after Nanas, Validas and Efflos.
