Kessil

Kessil

I have two of the kessil 150's on my 75 gallon tank right now (well only one really right now). I bought them two months ago and everything looks great. I am realy pleased with they way they look and how my corals have grown.
So far I only have one complaint, one of them stopped working. Everything was going great and then I looked at the tank and noticed one side of the tank flickering. I took it down and unplugged it thinking that it may have gotten hot. I Let it sit overnight and it still would not work.
They do have a two year warrenty (The user guide says one year but David from kessil said its actualy two years). I am currently waiting to hear back from them as to what the plan is.
Before anyone asks the question, it never got wet or splashed.

Okay I have to admit that these look really cool. Does anyone know if they are planning a dimmable version of this coming out in the near future?

they have not said the speck on the new ones yet.at least that i know of.stopped back by the lfs to look at the kessils again today.still looks good.its only a shallow frag tank though.i asked about par readings at the bottom of that tank and he said its not possible to get par readings anywhere because the par meter cant read that intense of readings.not sure if there is truth to that or not.

On the 150s? No, there is no truth to that. If you have read this thread, PAR readings have already been posted. The Apogee meter is said to work up to about 2000 PAR IIRC. So, once, your more than 4" or so from the emitter, you should be able to get a decent reading.

Recent PAR for the 10K on a 29 gallon biocube

The LED is 4" from the water, and maxed out the meter at 2888.

Surface was about =2000

Mid tank, 8" from surface =400-500

bottom 15" =80-90

The flashing this thing gave made it hard to settle on a number.

I doubt they will make a A150W dimmable but there is a good chance we might see the 350 model dimmable/tunable.

Thank you m2423 for posting the PAR again.

Haha, sure thing. Strange but I feel like I keep seeing the same questions in this thread, almost like deja vu LOL.

Well hopefully someone gets a 350 soon so I can replay their numbers too ;D

i think we are all sitting back whating for some ginnie pigs.i saw the old par post but i was just letting everyone know what i was told.he is trying to push them pretty hard but he has only had his for about a month.i just dont think i can trust that short of time on the tank.however the corals that have ben there the whole time do look real good

My par readings just taken on a 40 breeder. Lights were 4" from the surface. I have 14" from water level top to sand bed. 820+ was just below water level. Mid tank i got 240-260 and at the sand bed I got 90. All readings were directly under the light. Readings were done with a Apogee meter. So I've place all sps mid to high in the tank. My BTA has stayed in place since the switch from T-5's at about mid tank.

Well as I had posted last week one of my Kessil lights started to flicker like a stobe light. I contacted Kessil last week, and was sent a return adress label to send it back to them UPS. As soon as they saw that the package had been sent they sent me a replacement light.
I recieved the light yesterday, and it is back up on my tank.
I was very happy with their customer service, they took care of it very quick and did not give me grief, just asked some simple questions about the way the light was used. All in all, even though one stopped working I am very happy with the way their customer service took care of me.

twilmot. good to here about your experience with there customer service.
and thanks to all who have kept this thread going, i know it's a great resource for all how are looking in to these lights!
