thoughts on kessil A150 Led...

Wow I guarantee you'll have more than enough light. I have sps in my tank that is doing great and my tank is 36"x 20" x 18". They are the best lights I've had. I love the small size and pendent style and the pretty good power they put out for such a small light. The color is good too. What color did you choose?

I’ve been reading this thread, and was wondering since it is so old has anybody posted before and after. Basically, can anybody that has been running these for over 3-4 mo please post some pics to show growth.

Hey Boost do you like running two temps, do they mix well? If you only had one color temp what one would you get. The 10K or 15K.
Thanks Rob

i honestly was just gonna run the 15k but i couldnt decide..some pics would look super blue..some not as much...so i ended up finding a decent deal on both and ended up just using them...the blue def makes stuff pop more..would be the only reason i would do the 15k..but i feel for a all around color i like both together....they both are a super crisp..

i have been running these lights for about 6-7 months. i just got my wife a camera for her birthday so we haven't had a camera before for growth pics. i can tell you that while growth has been pretty good, and about on par with the t-5s i was running prioir. the real difference has been with color. i had a couple of pics of my tank before the kessils taken with an iphone and nothing up close just a couple of the whole tank. so not good for comparsions on growth, but after looking at those old pics man what a difference in color. the t-5s had my colors looking pastel, and now the colors are much more concentrated. i think another two will help with growth but the color i have gotten with these kessils is amazing.

What is the size of your tank? You have two Kessils over your tank now?

Hi Rob,
This video is head and shoulders best on showing the stock colors, and comparison of color combos. I like the look of the 10k and 20k together. I can't tell for sure if mixing the 10k and 20k = a regular 15k lol. I do think the 10k brings out the reds yellow green and the 20k fluoreses the blue. I read a review on M_____ D______ that stated the 10k and 15k was a good mix of color. The opinion of most on forums are that the 15k is pretty heavy on the blue. A lot of people like the blue for aesthetics and coral love blue light. Some think its got a bit too much blue. A lot of people like the 10k as well. The good things said about the 10k are it's more natural looking and it's still got a lot of blue, with opinions on the kelvin rating averaging out at 13k. I'm summing up their firsthand opinions and they could disagree or vary. The general statement regarding color from real owners is... 10k has a 10k-15k range of color. The 15k has a 15k-20k look. Heres the video:)

pics of my 2 kessils a150w sky (10k) over a 120g 48x24x24. will be adding two more a150w ocean blues...so far im super happy with the kessils, the pics truly do not give these lights justice, the best shimmer ive seen and corals are responding well to them.

Looking into getting some of these. Has anyone actually tested the PAR of the lights? Will they work for higher light coral? And what do you guys think about the mounts? They look cheaply made to be honest, are they plastic with plastic screws?

Thanks

The goose clamp mounts in my opinion, are anything but cheaply made. The clamp feels super strong and all the mounting hardware for the kessil are really well engineered. Make sure to measure your rim if you are not rimless. 1 1/8 rim only and you will have to trim for it to work if it's any bigger. (I did)( took me about 6 minutes total, no big deal)

The 6500k is called the Amazon Sun and was created primarily for planted tanks, but it looks really nice when combined with the higher K fixtures. As others have mentioned, the temperature ratings on these seem to be on the low end -- the Ocean Blue is definitely BLUE.
