thoughts on kessil A150 Led...

Which Kessil are you using in these Pics. Looks very nice.

My guesstimate would be the sky blue, it doesn't look blue enough for the ocean blue.

As for my setup.
I've been using my ocean blue pendant now for a good 5 months. I have shifted the pendant from my 4g pico to my 60g cube. Coral coloration and growth in my softies like my ricordia yuma's, and florida's has only intensified. The yuma's are growing / multiplying like crazy, however for some reason the florida's havn't multiplied. My stonies arn't showing good growth, but that is not the lights fault, it's more about my parameters while have been unstale in the 4g pico filled with only 2g of water

The one pendant is definitly not enough to light a 24in cube, the light very bright around 4 inches from the surface, and 10 inches deep, however any deeper and it looks extremely dim. I'm either thinking of waiting on the a350 to come out in Kuwait for how deep my tank is and possibly get an additional a150 sky blue for good aesthetic coverage.

I m quite pleased with my Ocean Blue 15K. Nothing to compare with really since this is my first fixture but everything seems to be fine.

Does anyone know if the goosenecks are reef safe? Mine sit about 1/4" in the water...the black color has come off and silver is showing...

I noticed this with mine as well submerged about 1/4" below waterline... I'm sure everyone else is seeing this but has anyone confirm yet what material it is made out of?

Just added 4 kessils to my 40 breeder, 2 15k ocean blues and 2 20k deep ocean blues. The color and shimmer are amazing. I will try to post some pictures later today.

I have been running 2 kessil a150's ocean blues on my 75 gallon for about a month now. So far I am happy with them. I dont know if they will grow SPS, but I am trying this out. I placed the SPS way up on top.

Here are a few pics down low on my tank.

If anyone is interested in selling a Kessil I am looking to buy. I think I would prefer a 10k as I like the blue but most people say the 15k is too blue.

For those of you using a Kessil how are you liking it? Is it growing everything as expected? Do corals seem to be reaching for light?

I plan on putting mine on a 12x12x12 cube. Would 1 Kessil be sufficient? Id assume it would be about 5 inches from the water. I'd think it would give enough spread and penetration to support pretty much any coral.

1 kessil would be sufficient for your 12x12. I would install it at least 8 inches off the water line.

My tank is an odd size (24 inch deep) and im running 2 and everything looks good so far.

I was originally gonna get the 10k because it thought it the 15k would be too blue. So happens that I really like the 15k and am glad I went this way. In my opinion most pics make the light look bluer than it really is.

Anyone have any videos of the 15k and the 10k? I can't decide if I want 15 or 10. I like a blue like a 14k MH bulb. Thats what I always ran in my sun pods and loved it.

Looking to buy a 15k A150. Would one be enough for a 18x17.5x17.5 cube? I only have lps and softies and one birdsnest and right now i run 12 3w leds. So I imagine this little thing would put out more light then what I have now correct?

It should be enough. IMO, x2 would be overkill.

I have been running 4-a150w sky blue on my 150g (60x24x24) tank for 10 months. That's less than 1 watt per gallon! My LPS have doubled in size in the last 6 months! I prefer LPS for the movement they provide. I have par measurements posted on reefcentral if anyone wants to see them. I have had amazing customer service experiences with Kessil. I am a fan! Are they perfect, no. But nothing is. They work for me and I am happy with them and would and do recommend them to friends. I should buy another 1 or 2 and will be later this summer. My wife loves the no noise and reduced heat. I don't run a chiller and I live near Fresno where it's regularly over 100. Currentlyit's 108. Our house is kept at 82 degrees and the tank stays 80.5F

I'm setting up a 40 gallon breeder soon and have purchased 2 A150's for it. I'm still in the process of gathering parts and cooking the dry rock. I'm looking forward to the build and will start a build thread soon.

ive been using my kessil a150w ocean blue for a year now with great results. I have started a small little blog that has a lot of pictures to see for comparison. http://intide.tumblr.com

when looking at the video/pictures posted on my page, you will notice how fully open all the corals/anemone are (the brain coral in the video is a little shriveled but this is due to a recent water change, after which it return to normal "inflation")

How long are you running your Kessill's? I just installed mine this afternoon and absolutely love the color of the Ocean Blue. The shimmer is awesome!
