Thoughts on KZ Fiji Purple T5's?

I have been hearing about these bulbs from various people. Does anyone have experience with this bulb? Does it really create a visible enough color change in the red spectrum to cause me to run out and buy one?

I have used them for almost two years and they are great... the color is unlike any other T5 bulb. As I said in another thread, KZ has recently released several other bulbs and they are also very nice. Certainly worth a try on your next bulb change... JMO.

First time I saw a KZ purple fiji I was suprised by the pop that reds and orange showed.

I've been using them for over a year. They definitely pop the reds, and add a lot of PAR while doing it. As Johnny mentioned, there are new versions out. ATI also has a purple bulb that is supposed to have a very similar spectrum. I'm planning to give that a try when my current KZ is ready for a change.

I've been using them...Not a huge fan of the color,I like a more blue tint..I hear kz has a more blue tinted bulb,but they are hard to find atm..

I had a KZ running with my T5s - loved the difference it made - reds and orange stood out better. I had it as one out of 6 bulbs.

I dig mine too, though i like it better when its off and just my actinics are on, love taht blue look.

I have a 4 foot 6 bulb Tek light and I also love a blue tank. Right now I have two aquablue plus and four actinic plus. When the KZ is on, what color light does it emit? Is it a daylight type bulb that makes the reds etc pop (to take the place of a an aquablue plus) or is it a blue light (to take the place of an actinic)? Everyone following? So, if I was to get this bulb, which bulb would I replace it with?....keeping in mind that I still want a blue tank!

I use it in the 2nd slot. Right now I'm using (also in a 4 foot 6 bulb Tek fixture):

ATI Blue+
KZ Fiji
ATI Blue+
Aquablue Special
ATI Blue+
ATI Blue+

I've got a very blue tank. Actually, just a bit too blue.

The Figi Purple bulb looks pinkish white to the eye- I would consider it a daylight bulb.

I would swap out the aquablue for it, not the actinic if u like blue.
