Thoughts on this frogspawn??

Let me start by saying these were taken late in the day as the lights were winding down so they are closed up already.

My question is that does this frogspawn look okay? He hasn't fully opened up in a few days though which has me worried. One of the mouths does look like it's splitting which is cool.

You can see in the first picture he looks shrivelled up along the side of each head.

Thoughts?

Water parameters:
Temp: 80F
Salinity: 1.024
Ammonia: 0.1
Nitrites: 0.1
Nitrates: 5
Calc: 540
Alk: 8.4dkh
Phos: 0.0

He's located on the bottom of the tank away from power heads so getting little flow.

Lighting is 3 actinic 24w bulbs and 1 10,000k daylight. Bulbs are on for 10 hours on a timer.

Any ideas? I don't want to lose it.

28 gallon bowfront. Just checked it out at lunch, heads were open, one still slightly closed. I'll give it some time.

It looks like something had a go with it. There seems to be a tentacle lying on the sand in front of it.

That's what I initially thought, then I checked, that is actually a piece of rock...

The crabs weren't helping though, they kept crawling over it ****ing it off.

Mine did that when they had white bugs. They were not really visible to the naked eye. I saw my six line picking at it a few times and got out a magnifying glass and discovered them. A dip in bayer took care of that problem and they started opening up again soon after.

Could have been the flow, just introduced an mp10wes to the tank, the frogspawn loves it, within 30 minutes he's fully open, all heads!

Split is looking good, and the branches in the middle are little heads looking like they are starting to grow.

Guess he was just getting used to the spot.

Gonna continue to monitor him and hope for the best.

Stop doing whatever you are doing to raise Ca. No reason for it to be over 500. 440 would be a great level for where your alk is. Ca That high can cause many problems.

As for the frogspawn, its hard to tell from the pic especially since you said the lights just changed.

Worth checking for those white bugs. I had them 2 of 2 frogspawn additions. You can see them with a naked eye if the coral is near the glass. Just a tiny white spec & sometimes they move. I got rid of them with Bayer as well. It took two dips a week apart though, one dip did not cut it. Seems to be only a frog spawn pest because I had a hammer right near that never got affected.

I'll take a look for the white bugs when I get home.

I was dosing Purple Up but have stopped, that's why my calc levels have spiked. I wasn't purposely raising my calc. I'm pretty sure the high calc levels are also attributed to the salt mix I use.

I just changed the bulbs from 2 daylights 2 actinic to 1 daylight 3 actinic as the bulbs were old, this was done almost 2 weeks ago so they should be accustomed to the spectrum.

Good news, no noticeable white bugs yet. Spent a good 10 minutes checking him out. Heads appear to be opening up daily no problem.

I'm concluding this far that they closed because the lights were on that day, that and the crabs ****ing them off.
