Thoughts on this tank.

This is an 18 gallon aquarium i picked up for pretty cheap. However this this particular place in the seam has me questioning the integrity of the aquarium. It holds water with no leaks and i guess this is pretty common with acrylic tanks.

Held water just fine. Not sure on the brand of it. Been trying to locate something of some brand. People have said it is possibly a seaclear.

Me personally having worked with acrylic, I would go over the seam with a solvent bonding agent to reseal the seam and then add a bead of acrylic sealant. You must know what you are doing and clamp your work or risk the original weld failing. You may want to just go with a bead of sealant.

Yeah i am thinking just the bead might be sufficient. I am fairly handy and enjoy me some projects but i dont have clamps that would work for this purpose.

I'd consider cutting a long narrow strip (like 1/4x1/4" or 1/2 x 1/2") and using Weldon to bond it inside the corner.

Yeah that has crossed my mind. I have also read something about putting the seam edge on a flat surface and using weld on the create something like a silicone joint on a glass tank.

Which version of weld on, seems to be 4, 16 and 40 are most widely used. Thanks.
