thoughts that might make you go nuts

i just finished looking over my receipts( from all private sales and lfs') from the past 4 years( yes i keep up with everything) and i came to the realization that i have spent over
$7400.00 on this hobby--don't get me wrong, some was trial and error, but i hate to say that i have enjoyed it all better than any other hobby. i know i'm probably a rookie( as far as the total cash dish out), but just think of it-----how much have you spent for this hobby that you love so much?

I don't keep up with mine, but I would be very surprised if it was any less than $10k. As you eluded to in your post though, its not really about the money, its about the enjoyment. Most all us are going to spend money on some type of hobby, maybe several hobbies, but heck what are you working for if not to have a little fun in life.

If you want to talk about spending a lot on an hobby.
I win and there isn't a second place...lol

I keep all my tickets and they all go to my wife, occasionally she asks me if I want to know how much I spend I simply respond with NO.

It is not any worse than I was on my last real obsession which lasted for "decades" and still is there which is Bass fishing and Tournament Bass Fishing.

When I sold my Bass boat the genleman that bought it from me saw me in a restaurant some months later and he and his wife came up to me and he pulled out of "HIS WIFES PURSE" an invoice he found of mine in a Bass proshop bag in one of the dry storage boxes, the ticket was over 4 feet long and was for $1600.00 he said that was his inspiration, and that every time his wife fussed at him about spending money on fishing he remined her of that ticket!!

If you think this hobby is expensive, try shooting and gun collecting!
Yes and I'm sure there are many others. Golf isn't cheap and someone had mentioned rc helicopters in an earlier thread. I think hobbies in general take up quite a bit of time and money. Some folks would say that keeping a reef tank is just a lot of work, where I would say that gardening is just a lot of work, but when you enjoy something it's really not like working at all.
