~~ Thread of the Month ~~ Ghetto Tanks!

Wow, Wow, Wow. LOJ, please tell me you don't use that toilet for it's intended purpose. Thank you all for your humorous posts, and for making my wife love me more!

Hey honey, did you know Tunze Streams only use 30w of electricity?

Aren't those things $700?!!!!

Well, I could try this thing I saw on the Ghetto Tanks thread..........

ROTFLMAO:rollface:  :D :D

sfsuphysics, I don't know, Fricks was pretty good he gets a higher degree of difficulty because he successfully combined danger, science, AND the ghettability factor.

On the other hand, LOJ recieves style points for an impressionistic and artistic blend of reef tank & rundown gas station bathroom. Bridging the gap between the extremes of humanity, Beautiful.

Side note: At first it was not bad at all. I was thinking that you were too hard on yourself. But the last picture is the icing on the cake. Dude, you be ghetto. :D

See I knew it! 18 things plugged into 2 extension cord, with extensions on them, all sitting on the floor where tubing that's full of water is running is the clincher!

WOW, I am speechless, I thank all of you for posting your pics. WOW, this is the greatest thread eva...:uzi:

eee

I cant get a camera but the words will show you everything. I got tired of silliconen my canister filter so it was time for me to make a sump/fuge filter. Opened the fridge and grabed the vegetable bin scraped all the mushrooms ands mold out. placed 6x3inch of acrylic in the corner and glued it. slid a tupperware bowl bout fist size on the acrylic. so the bowl is drilled or should i say stabed with holes and filed with cotton and is above the water line. this where the mechanical filter takes place. the pluming is from the canister filter. the last time i had any circulation was in mid may.so you can imagine what a stagnant tank looks like, just waiting for the pump to com in few days.

I think there should be categories for awards ...

Best (in)appropriate use of regular household objects.

Nuttiest wiring.

Most creative use of tape (could be split into duct and electrical, if the need arises).

Nuttiest plumbing.

Most dangerous.

Best location.

Best overall.

I was going to show how I crammed 2x55 watt PCs into a retrofit designed for 1 ... with legs made of a muffin fan and a piece of acrylic ... sitting on a glass cover so it wouldn't fall into my 20.

But, damn, that doesn't even come close to some of these.

This is sounding cooler all the time. Lets do it.

I always wondered why so many people have so many problems with their aquariams. This shows some of the reasons why. If the tank is ghettofied, then im sure whats in it is also.

Yep, I have used hairnets, super glue and rubber-bands to attach corals in my tank.

Just wanted to say, I don't have a ghetto tank, but my wife ripped out the carpet and replaced it with ceramic tile in our great room to make way for my 350g acrylic tank just so's I COULD spit out siphon water if I wanted.
What a great wife!

sump

sump

my sump- a 10g sitting on plastic bins in a 30g, nasty 'ol N.O. with cookie tin reflectors, a euro-reef next to a 15-year-old whisper jet and, ahem, a prizm skimmer. Nice bunch of pods, tho- a mysid factory.
