That would be another 10 on the Ghetto Scale of 1-10

REALLY NICE TANKS THOUGH

I just spent an hour reading all 26 pages... best... thread... EVER!!

Took a picture of the ghetto-ist thing I've got ATM (not much, I admit, but still embarassing). I got the IV thumb wheel at the hospital, the nurse looked very confused when she went to throw it away and I asked if I could have it! I used some of the smallest airline tubing I could find at the LFS and a water bottle that holds just about exactly the amount of water that evaporates from my tank in 24h and... voila! My contribution, top-off ghetto style.
Please note also the desk lamp over my modded AC 70 HOB refugium, not exactly classy but it works :)

unreal.....how many of you are single? and how many of you have ever burned down a portion of your house?

very creative, i love it!! if i didn't have a wife to answer too, or a 4 year old running around, i think i'd have a similar set up.

I nominate Doug for Ghetto Tank of the Month
Here it is:

It's a 30g hex with another 20g rubbermaid sump, AquaC Remora HOB skimmer, 4 Maxi-jet 1200's DIY "carbon reactor" (filter from an old FW tank), and a 400W MH that cost... $35 (that includes the bulb). Here's a closeup:

Only the finest HVAC duct work for the reflector.

Note the fine canopies made from scrap plexiglass and a spare storm window.

Stunning, no?

$35

Sure it stunning, but my question is: why is the water in that tank sooo green? It looks real green anyways. Any ideas?

Man! I didn't know they'd let you have a tank in the slammer!
And that **it on a plate is classic!

This may be the funniest thread I've seen yet!

I wish I had pictures of the old toy chest I converted into a MH/flourescent canopy. The tank was a 38 gallon (36" long, 12" front to back). The toy box was ~28" long. My flouresent bulbs stuck out the end...no end caps...just bare wire wrapped around the pins. Eventually I wrapped them with electrical tape after I got zapped one day.
