Throwing in the towel...

Ha! You guys make me laugh... This is a hard decision. I have to confess I am having trouble picturing my family room without this beautiful tank in it. I hope folks will not be too annoyed with me if I change my mind and decide to rebuild...

I wouldn't mind and think you should keep it since you have a beautiful system and looks very nice in your home. If you do not want to do the extra stuff for the reef then how about a FOWLR?

rebuild Doug! I remember seeing pictures of your tank when I was shopping for the Pac Sun light and it looked amazing then!!!!

hang in there!!!!!

Sorry to hear sir,
My tank suffer the same faith with most of my acropora. The Doser failed ( rather I failed because I didn't check) , alkalinity went up to 16 but I am a fish guy first.... Thinking of throwing the towel few times too but we have a build in tank, That spot will be empty and will never be the same if you remove the tank.

Take your time Doug. Worst thing you can do is make an impulse decision you might very well regret in a short period of time and then you gotta start over costing you more in the long run. I as well can and will set you up with some new starters

Brent, you're one of the very good folks here. You and I have been down this road before!

Hi everyone - I am surprised at how much angst I've been feeling at the thought of getting out of the hobby. As much work as it is and as many ups and downs as we all experience, there is really nothing like a reef tank when things are going well. I guess this is my clumsy way of saying that last night I decided to give it another month or two to see if I can get things stabilized and growing again. I apologize to everyone who has been waiting on me for livestock and hardware and hope you will understand my back and forth on this. Anyway, thanks to those of you who have been so kind and supportive and have encouraged me to hang in there. This is truly a great community. Happy 4th of July! Below is a link to a very inspiring song to get you in the mood. :-) Doug

I don't believe anyone is upset, on the contrary, I believe most here (my included) are happy that you chose to give it another go. Such a beautiful tank you have that it would be a shame to tear it down :)

Please share photos when things are on the up and up.

As a side note, Rik has been a great person to deal with in the short amount of time I have known him. A good asset to have on this forum :)

Thanks Rik, as they say... treat others like you want to be treated..
Yeah.... been down that road a few times unfortunately. My tank once it grows out should be awesome.
